Tide Pool Reflections
Hi All,
For a change I did a WIP of this over in the Acrylics Forum. This is a beautiful evening around a month ago, I took lots of great pics for future works.
This is acrylic, 1000mm by 750mm or 40ins by 30ins on gallery wrap canvas. C&C always very welcome.

Re: Tide Pool Reflections
BEAUTIFUL! I could look at that all day. Good thing you took some pictures of this one because I can't imagine you'll have it around long. You've really hit on something with that low-level, face-high surf with a complement of eye-pleasing clouds motif. To me, these things just cry out to be hung in a large lobby like that of a hospital or some such.
Extra nice - superbly done!

The ground becomes the sky with that reflective quality - I think it works a treat!

Re: Tide Pool Reflections
Nice Marty, really nice.
Do you know Lindsay Pow?
I had a heap of oils, seascapes that I lost in my house fire 6 years ago. They were done in oils. I lost one acrylic seascape in the house fire. I've since painted a few in acrylics. I've got one photocopy of a seascape done in oils payne’s grey and white of Dongara. I haven't loaded it up to my art section yet, it was in my last group that got axed a couple of weeks ago for some reason.
I like oils the best because I like the fact that the colour you mix on the palette is the colour that dries on the canvas. What I don't like about acrylics is it dries darker.
love Cathy

Re: Tide Pool Reflections
Hi Marty, like I told Cathy ya realy know yer sea. You seem to improve yer skill with every new painting.
A friend of mine made a trip to the Oregon coast, and I give him my digital camera to take some surf photos, but it just aint the same as taking them yourself. Do ya think it would be dishonest for me to do some paintings from them?
Jack

Hi Jack,
Paint away! If it's a good photo you have the skill to produce a very good work from it. I do like to be on the scene and take the photo myself. You seem to get a better feel for the light, the colour and atmosphere by being there. I think the memory of the place or notes/sketches help if you are doing the work from a photo.
