Project Discussion: Dogs, Dogs, And More Dogs!
A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!
Title: Dogs, Dogs, And More Dogs!
Project Leader: Artguy29
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Painting
Medium: Any Medium
Subject: Wildlife
Days open for signups: Always
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited
Description:
Dogs are one of the most beautiful and expressive subjects to paint. I thought it would be interesting to see how people view these animals through their own eyes. The key is to be as creative as possible, creating a painting that not only shows the dog itself, but reflecting its feelings in the background.
Additional Information:
For more information on the project: Click here!
Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get \"pushed down\" by a swarm of project-related threads.

Re: Project Discussion: Dogs, Dogs, And More Dogs!
Hi,
Just a quick question - Do we have to use the reference pics you chose or can we submit a painting of a dog of our choice?
Thanks,
Barbara

Re: Project Discussion: Dogs, Dogs, And More Dogs!
hi, I have another question: Could we use coloured pencils or soft pastels to do our piece, or would that be considered as a "drawing" and not a "painting"?
Thanks

I checked out the more info link. You can use any medium, wet or dry.
This sounds like fun, count me in. Haven't painted a dog in a while.

You can use any medium. The only restriction is that it must be in color; no pencil, charcoal, etc.

Is a background required? It says to express the dog's feelings in the background. I really stink at backgrounds...lol.

CRYROFLE,
Some type of background is required. In your case, you can just put some nice colors around the dog. There dosen't have to be any actual "objects" in the background. You can get pretty expressive this way, just by your color choice.

Re: Project Discussion: Dogs, Dogs, And More Dogs!
Quick Note:
As there as been some confusion with allowed mediums, I just wanted everyone to know that any medium may be used, as long as it's a "painting". This word can be interperted in many ways, but I see a painting as something in color. So the basic media you can use are watercolor, acrylic & oil paints; colored pencil, pastel (any type). I ask that you keep within those mediums, but if you have something else in mind, please let me know first; I'm always open to new ideas!
Thanks for signing up!

Re: Project Discussion: Dogs, Dogs, And More Dogs!
Hello all,
well this is the first time I've signed up for anything "project" wise.
And I do have a commission (for a friend of a friend..) and I am literally looking at my ref photo's now..... So I might as well combine forces
and maybe stop myself procrastinating!
I'll be doing an 11x14, oil painting.
When I get started I'll post something in the progress area of the projects!
Thanks, Mag
