A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!
Title: Newbie Airbrush
Project Leader: Penny220
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Any Type
Medium: Any Medium
Subject: Not Applicable
Days open for signups: Always
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited
Description:
This project is for people to create a small 20-minute lesson for Newbie Airbrush Artists. The submissions will be published into an online beginning airbrush how-to.
Think back to when you started out and the exercises that were most helpful to you.
Please create lessons in 5 steps or less with explicate instructions.
Additional Information:
For more information on the project: Click here!
Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
There seems to be a great need for this and I know from looking there isn't much on the net so we will house it here. Now all we need is participants, hint, hint everyone.

Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
Penny,
I would like to participate but I must finish this commission I am working on first. i already delayed it by going to Dru's class, being sick the next week and then painting the Halloween pumpkin. If I can find the time, I will try to do something. It IS a good idea but i am just too busy at the present moment.

Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
Change of venue, please read
It's been brought to my attention that wip's through the project system are difficult at best to follow. I have created a new thread Airbrush 101 to address this. Please post WIP's in the new thread, post final images in the project system and post comments and questions in this thread.
Newbies who are following along with the WIP's, feel free to post your work here in this thread.
Let's keep the WIP's coming

I will be trying this out when I ge thome tonight. I must get to sleep early tonight wow I am starting to feel it. Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
Penny,
I don't know about others but posting a tutorial for a newbie with pieces of it in even two different places doesn't sound like a good idea. I say the wip needs to exist in only one place and the wip needs to include the progress/steps/instructions followed by the end picture and comments landing in another thread could be okay but even that doesn't make sense from a programmer's point of view. It'd be nice if it somehow could be all one thread in the final analysis but whatever happens I be down wit dat. DOH! At least combining the wip and final pic is better.
Just my opinion because I too just felt it was too much effort to keep click click clicking and hunting down this stuff.
So, thanks for the help! I was thinking about a lesson but not sure what. I have been airbrushless for 2 days since my air spring gave out so I thought about a tut that didn't even involve the airbrush but I don't know. Maybe some basic color info for those who don't know much about color theory. (blind leading the blind heheheheheh)

Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
If the wips are put in the airbrush 101 thread they will be a step by step. Having comments and what not in the middle of the wips will only be more confusing to everyone which is why this thread is being kept. It's the best I can do with the system we have to work with.

Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
I just added my project for newbies. It's about using a symmetric mask (one cut w/exacto) to make all sorts of nice curvy objects. Heck, now I'M inspired! hehehehhe

Re: Project Discussion: Newbie Airbrush
You can request them.....
hehehehheheheeHEEEEEEEEEEEEEeee
Um, two of those can be found already in various other threads. I'll see if I can post a few links here for you.
Stones:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show...=demo+airbrush
http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/...ls&proj_id=711
Fur:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180364
Wood:
???
No tut on that in the AB forum I think. I'll give you verbally a quick idea for it (from Cacy's video).
Three parts:
1) Paint the wood grain first (dark brown) using a fan brush in long straight strokes. You should get long dark defined lines
2) Stipple over the whole piece to taste using same dark brown (stipple is like splattering little drops).
3) Color it a dull light brown w/transparent paint (use yellow ochre and maybe burnt sienna plus a drop of blue to dull it) over the grain then add some various dents and cracks by drawing/painting a dark line and scratch a highlight on the lit side using a razor.
