Hello Everybody!!!!

Been away for a while, still painting away though. Was on a retreat painting again last weekend, and look what creeped onto my canvas

Re: Bearded Iris

Hi Patricia,
Nice work, the foreground leaves lead the eye in to the centre of the work. Good detail, well done.

Re: Bearded Iris

Thanks for the comment, but I have to blame mother nature for the composition. Here's the ref pic.

It's lovely Patricia - could you give us an idea of size please?

Re: Bearded Iris

Sorry for not including size info, it's been a while and I forgot. It's on gallery wrap canvas, 12" x 12".

I've only been working on small canvases so far, anybody have any hints for the daunting large ones? I'm scared that I won't mix enough of the shades I need, and the colours will be off.

Re: Bearded Iris

At one time I had only painted small (12"x16, around there). So the first large one I did was 5'x5'--talk about daunting! I was scared to death! The only way to do it is just to plunge in--sink or swim!
