Re: ******Daily Wash*****Friday Sept 17th

I botched it again.
Sorry Jackie lets use yours, it appears more user friendly and my place is a mess!!!

Weather for Kington according to BBC:
Today;

light showers
max 16°C
min 14°C sunny intervals

Tomorrow
max 16°C
min 9°C.

Hope everyone is or has arrived in Kington and that Janet remembers to put her feet up. Pat it would appear, has pub crawl planned so all should be in safe hands. Lets make them proud that we were able to keep the ship from washing ashore in their absence.

Today we have roof colours to sort out, new crew (ktrayn... why do I think thats a song?) to welcome and assign tasks to, people to encourage and new words to ponder (Kate whenever you are ready).

Nothing astounding for me to report, met Emily's teacher and we had an ice cream eating race. She won but I was messier. Birthday party tonight. Five 11 year olds sleeping over... how do you spell YIKES!

Seeya everyone, have a great day. Mind your heads.

Chris

Oh a double open that would have been fun!!!
I am reminded of a scene from Dinosours "not the momma, not the mama" sung by the baby dino...
Hello Washies... I am stil brainstorming for my show coming up saturday next
and have to matt several peices tomorrow an frame others.
I need to clarify something about yesterdays wash. Being silly I chose sides and said I will follow Sandbanx to where I am not sure... all said in fun. Then today I read the poll on the wash (all of it) Just want to clarify there are no sides to take for me in light of that discussion and I was not responding to anything about taking sides in the poll discussion.

That aside I wish you all a good day a good night and a good in between,
Kat

Re: ******Daily Wash*****Friday Sept 17th

Morning!

Chris, the first revellers will be arriving in Kington this evening (about 12 hours from now). The rest will be there tomorrow. JJ should be busy exploring London. Pam I believe is arriving in England early tomorrow morning. Judy B was going to explore on the way from London. I'm really excited and nervous at the same time!

Today I'm doing some last minute shopping, packing my bag, and baking lots and lots of scones! My life wouldn't be worth living if I didn't leave some for the gannets I do need to make an important decision though - should I make round scones (attractive, but the ones made from the trimmings aren't as light), or my usual triangles (easy to do, no wastage, but not as attractive. Kids also said they'd be more difficult to add jam and cream to).

Chris, 5 giggling girls in the house sounds like fun

Kat, I'm sure nobody thought you were taking sides, don't worry about it

Jackie, you must be relieved that Ivan didn't get you. I hope the area it did hit isn't suffering too badly

Have to go and start getting organised, hugs and white light to all

Ruth

Re: ******Daily Wash*****Friday Sept 17th

Morning all

Hospital appointment and packing today. Already packed my painting gear, cases on bed, well oiled travel machine (Ruth) goes into action this afternoon.

Ruth is also baking like fury - we will be living on fruit cake and rock buns next week

Panic on David front - he has decided to leave his golf gear home as he still has a pulled groin muscle However he is having withdrawal symptoms from enforced parting from satellite TV - it's the RYDER CUP this weekend, so everything we have is set to record whilst we are away and we may even bring our video recored so he can record overnight in Kington and watch it during the evening

Fine weather is delayed but fingers crossed weather in shelter of Brecon Beacons and Black mountains will be OK

Hope JJ and Alan are having a good time in London. The Londoners will be relieved when they depart for Kington, and the security level in the Tower of London will go down a notch !

Glad Ivan missed you, Jackie - hope our other southern friends escape damage.

BBL Doug

Re: ******Daily Wash*****Friday Sept 17th

Good Morning all,

Just past 5:00 a.m. here in rainy Oakwood. Supposed to have rain three days in a row here thanks to Ivan's tail coat. Since he isn't bringing the winds and tornadoes along, that's fine, we can use the water on the lawns and gardens.

Oh, the excitement and hustle and bustle as the Kington Krew assembles at last. Looking forward to seeing photos and hearing all about your meetings. If we can't be there in person , at least we can enjoy the occasion vicariously.

Chris, Hope you have a big bottle of aspirin handy. You are a brave man taking on that many 11-year olds at one time! What a good shepard you are keeping all of us on track here in the Wash. I think Kate and her DH are on their way to Kington at this time or getting ready to go, if I'm not mistaken. Our word for the day could be envious or wishful for those of us stuck at home, I think.

Jackie, Glad you had the chance to sneak in and start the Wash. Good to see you smiling now that Ivan has left your area intact. Watch out for Jeannie, she's getting ready to pounce.

Ruth, I first learned to make scones when I was in the Girl Scouts as part of a cooking badge requirement. We were taught that the classic Scottish Scone was cut in diamond-shapes—pat out the dough into a roughly round shape, cut diagonal lines in one direction, cross them in the other direction and place the resulting diamond-shaped scones on a baking sheet. No rerolling required. I really like scones drizzled with honey or topped with sweet butter and jam or jelly. Yummm.

Doug, I am so-o-o-o-o glad my DH doesn't play golf or follow sports , LOL! He runs 3.5 miles a day, 5 days a week and that is the extent of his involvement with sports. I'm probably more of a sports fan than he is. Have fun packing and getting ready to go to Kington. Is Ruth baking her fruitcake and rock buns (rocks? as in hard as.... to take along to Kington with you to share with your fellow artists????

Andy, Bet it was fun acting as host and tour guide to Hopeful and her DH. Loved your blue pots painting, BTW!

Hi Kat, Oh, it must be exciting getting ready for your show on Saturday. Hope you'll take photos of your set up to share with us. Good luck and have fun.

We had a very good first class yesterday. Diane Coyle, our instructor, demonstrated a wet into wet landscape—she wanted to "loosen" us all up at the start of our Fall session of painting. After her demo, we all went back to our tables and tried to follow suit. Mine is about half way finished, I need to add reflections in a river that runs across the foreground section, plus some tree trunks. So far it isn't too bad for something painted in class.

Off to visit another contractors' showroom to look at roof samples. Afraid a metal roof just wouldn't look good on a Tudor-style house the way it did on Char's house yesterday. Tried to talk my DH into a thatched-roof like the one's we see in the British mystery shows set in the Cotswolds, but he said "No," typical man, no adventure in his soul.

Char, I can't imagine your home with any other color roof than that gorgeous red in the photos you showed in the Wash yesterday. Glad you decided to keep it.

Guess there will be some hoteliers in London who will have JJ stories to dine out on for a while. LOL! Hope she and Alan are enjoying all the wonderful things to see and do in London. I think the Beefeaters will keep the crown jewels safe in the Tower, Doug, even if JJ tries to get up close and personal with them! LOL!

Well, guess I should peruse the Gallery.

MORNING!!!
It's been a long time I know.....Some of you I recognise, some I don't and ALL of you are probably wondering who the hell I am! LOL!

We've been busy all summer landscaping the garden and putting 2 summerhouses up. We've connected the two together and plastered the inside, added a toilet area by a partition wall and ....voila!.We have a guesthouse for rellies to stay in AND somewhere for me to paint!!!! .Be nice to just leave everything out and make a mess instead of having to clear the table for dinner! LOL!

Hope you are all well...Sorry it's been so long, I haven't painted a thing in almost a year...A YEAR!!!......How crazy is that??? I have a commission right now, so it's given me the poke I needed and I'm just hoping this painting lark is like riding a bike!

Nervous???.........You betcha!

Morning all.....
Well after all the pre-Ryder hype....Let the games begin! It seems we will have just beautiful weather here for the weekend.....hoping the same for Kington! There are some excited peeps around here I'll tell you! (The Ryder Cup matches are being played about 40 min. from our house...my husband has been "working" there all week) Having played Oakland Hills a few times...It's fun to watch whenever there is a big tourney there....Here's to great, exciting, golf...whoever wins! (whomever wins?)

I'll be watching the golf with one eye and finishing (hopefully finishing) a commission with the other eye.

Have a great day all!

Lauren

Hello all,

My 3 wishes for today:

1) that you all have a safe and happy day.

2) that the "Kington Kids" have a wonderful get-together

3) that today's wash doesn't deteriorate into a chatroom monopolized by a few to the dismay of the many, as yesterday's did

Re: ******Daily Wash*****Friday Sept 17th

Good afternoon all,

I`m just about to do my last minute packing ready for Kington.
The camera batteries are charged, camera emptied, I just need to chuck them in the case.
Then I have to start on my contribution to the buffet, and my painting kit packed up.

I`ve got a mouthful of ulsers (a bad reaction to the new painkillers the dr put me on ) so I`ve been up all night with the pain.I`ve been using mouth wash, and bonjela, for the last few days but they`ve just been getting worse.
I got to the point yesterday were I just couldn`t eat at all, so I stopped taking the pills, and started using warm salted water mouth rinses, taste disgusting but they seem to be working.I have just managed to eat a bowl of soup...it hurt like hell, but it filled a hole.
I just hope it`s better for tomorrow so that I can enjoy that lovely buffet.

Anyway have fun while we are away, we`ll see you all soon.

Re: ******Daily Wash*****Friday Sept 17th

Hi all

Well looks like the remnants of Ivan is just below us south of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.. We might be getting some of it I spoz.

Had our annual Condo general meeting last night of owners. Was quite eventfull and lots got done. That was great. There were some pretty hot discussions for sure.

Not much new here to report except really nice weather we have been having. Temperatures are great.. Could use a bit of rain tho grass is starting to brown a tad.

Have a good painting day all..

Johnnie

Sorry, it's my fault. Maltman and mr. sandbanx are new here and don't really know what's "acceptable behavior" in the wash. We'll "take it outside" from now on. Matingara also is a newbie in the wash.... I did think their conversation was extremely funny though, but that's just me.
