Slip knot for leather thong

Please could someone help me , maybe with a little diagram. I need to make some men's leather thong necklaces for the groomsman at my daughters wedding. They will each have a bicone on the leather thong. I thought the best way would be to have the two slip knots at the back but don't know how to do it. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a quick lesson.
Thanks,
Lynne S

I think you're looking for a Fisherman's knot.

So glad to see someone else is "knot impaired", Lynne. Thought it was only me. Even with the diagrams, I have a hard time. Good luck.

Re: Slip knot for leather thong

Thanks for the image! Such a simple concept but seemed elusive to me Since we are on the topic .... I have seen these "sliding knots" on cord/leather but they have really nice ends. Almost like they are coiled? If this makes sense. If anyone can help explain how to achieve this, I would be grateful

Kari

Sliding knots -

If you haven't done so, I would post this question in the Wearable Arts forum, I"m sure you'd get an answer!

Plus, I want to know how to make one too!

Re: Slip knot for leather thong

Thanks all so much for the info and also to Dale who sent me the info in a private message. Now I need to sit with the cord and work it out.

OK this is pretty close ...but notice how the ends of the cord come off at a right angle...

when you do this go thru the loop twice...that way the end will lay parallel to the length of the strand....

if this isn't clear I can draw something for you...

Notice on the top picture how the tail on the left comes off parallel to the length of the cord... the one on the right it sticks out...

the second image shows the knot ...exactly as explained but don't stop after one time around ...take it around one more time for a nice flat laying knot ;-)

Have to chuckle!

And I also found this place that has some animated knot tutorials:

http://www.grogono.com/knot/carrick/...e=LogoGrog.jpg

and one more:

http://www.troop9.org/?s=knots/sheep/index

There are actually lots of animated knots sites out there!
