The Madonna of the Roses
I'm cross posting from Colored pencils. This is my first golored pencil layering project and first drawing I have posted on WC. I really enjoyed this project, took over 50 hours.
Bad image, but I hope to have a scanner soon.
Critic would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Judi

Re: The Madonna of the Roses
I can not seem to get your attachment to open up, Could you post it using uploader? You will find that under the quick links menu at the bottom.

Re: The Madonna of the Roses
Sassybird,
I though I had used the uploader. I'm submitting again. I have been having major computer problems here at home. I don't know if this is the problem or not. If this doesn't work, I'll upload from work tomorrow.
This is an 8 x 10 on Stonehedge, colored pencil.
Thanks,
Judi

Drat! Still no enlargement. What I can see of the thumbnail looks intriguing. I hope we can figure this out!

Re: The Madonna of the Roses
hhmm....
I went and checked your post, and from the link you provided, it only brings up about a 1-1/2 inch by 3/4" sized image on my monitor. Very strange...
I save my images 6.9" in height or width as the largest dimension, and save at medium resolution (number seven in photoshop) at 72 dpi.
what size did you save this image on your system? Out of curiosity.
Also...you appear to have saved this jpeg with brackets in the title, "[1]" and perhaps brackets have some instructional meaning in html that is interfering. I'd just give it a simple name, all lowercase...and forget the brackets. See how that works.

Try, try again.
Maybe pray, huh?
Thanks for looking,

Yeh! Finally got it.
Again, sorry for the bad image. Colors are smooth transitions and bright in the actual drawing.

Re: The Madonna of the Roses
Oh it's lovely! Even with the glare of the flash and the oblique distortion I love their faces and all the (subtle) detail in the background. Is there a specific tradition that uses that style of halo?

Re: The Madonna of the Roses
This is my rendition of Bouguereau's 'The Madonna of the Roses'. I don't know about the halo.
Thanks,
Judi

Re: The Madonna of the Roses
Finally remembered to post the original. Now you can see how GREAT he was. Not that I'm unhappy with mine, but see how far there is to go.....
