Walk-through for anyone new to eBay!
Ebay.co.uk has now put up a talking tutorial! It's not well advertised and I don't see it on ebay.com but the basics are the same on the two sites so hopefully it will help some of the newbies out there who wonder how these auctions work, how to sell, and what they're getting themselves in for. There are two tutorials:
Introduction to eBay
Selling Process
If you have trouble using either of these links they are on the right-hand side of this page (for the moment, they'll probably disappear eventually as it's a Topic of the Day)
http://forums.ebay.co.uk/dws?14@1002832910993@.ee7ba1a
Requirements are:
Window: Netscape 4.06 or higher but not 6 or IE4.0 or higher
Mac: Netscape 4.75 or higher but not 6
Note that I have not tried these tutorials because I'm not on an acceptable browser (I use Opera). So if anyone can give an objective review that would be great.
Tina.

Re: Walk-through for anyone new to eBay!
Thanks for posting those links (although you had missed the .com bit from the address so I have fixed it in the quote).
I really enjoyed the tour. It has sound and you just sit back and listen and watch the screen scroll up and down. There are pause and back buttons and a drop down menu so you can see how far you have got. The first tour was very basic but the second one did make me feel as though it's not so daunting to get going on ebay (which is something I will be doing soon).

Thanks Carly for "pulling this up to the top."
I'm a brand new member and just found this thread and took the tour. I, too, am planning to sell on ebay and finding the whole process quite daunting. Still trying to work through posting pix--it's all Greek to me at this point. I have a scanner and am just learning how to use it. The selling process tour cleared away some of the fog and I'm encouraged. Have not posted any pix of my art in any forum because I'm still not sure how to go about it, and am too embarressed about my ignorance to ask beyond the 2nd or 3rd question.... I think this tour has helped tremendously. Thanks again.

Thanks again Carly. I'm going to make a sticky linking to this so it stays current (let's hope they don't pull the links on eBay!).
Errrrr.... actually, no I won't. Okay, I give up. How do you make a sticky? or can only moderators do that? Anyway, I thought I'd call it "Intro to online auctions" rather than just eBay in case anyone finds more good tutorials for sites like yahoo, etc. Maybe the sticky fairy will visit.
Tina.

Tina, I believe that if you click on 'report this post to a moderator' and ask them to do the sticky, they will do it for you. I think. Worth a try.

I seem to take the long route...
There is probably an easier to way to find your way back to something, but I just send an icon or shortcut to my desktop so that I can click on it and go directly back to that forum or message. Under file, send a shortcut to your desktop. I'm sure, as I said, there's an easier way, but it works for me.
