saguaro flower WIP
I had planned on going big pen to stipple, but will do (at least) one small pen stipple. I don't know how quickly I will go, but we'll see how things progress.

Re: saguaro flower WIP
Great start Dan. I love the big old saguaro, and their flowers. They are at their best at night when the Mexican fruit bat come to feed on em.

Re: saguaro flower WIP
A really good start on this, Dan. I am looking forward to seeing the progression of the piece. You certainly got the needles looking realistic. Try to use different size pens in your stippling to give depth and a good value range.

Hi Dan!
Lookin good! I'm going to jump out on a limb....and respectfully disagree with Queen Char. I would love to see it all done in small dotz.

Re: saguaro flower WIP
Day two, and only a little further along. We'll see how much time I get tonite. Yes, it will be all small dotz. And Jack, as you probably already know, the saguaro flower opens for one day only, so it relies on the bats for pollination. Makes them both pretty special in my book.

Beautiful job, I really like the composition. I am sooo envious of you people that live near deserts and can get shots of cacti and old ruins, ghost towns, etc.
Not so envious of the heat though
Steve.

Re: saguaro flower WIP
Getting there. Hey, I had my pen start leaking on me...Micron 005...Is this a common problem? Came TOO close to dripping on the drawing--actually, if the photo hadn't been over it at the time it would have been ruined.

Re: saguaro flower WIP
Looking fantastic! Can't say I've ever had a Micron do that but I don't use them all that often. Maybe someone here has some tips. That could have been a disaster!

Re: saguaro flower WIP
Great texture!
Regarding the Micron pen, I've never had one leak. My business for the last 10 years has been the office supply business. If you contact Sakura, the makers of the pen, they may replace it for you. Who knows? Some manufacturers are more customer friendly than others, wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
Here's the link to their contact information http://www.gellyroll.com/contact/index.htm
Okay...now that I've nerded out...I'll be off! Ha ha ha
