Hi walkers,
sorry to miss you today—I can't be sitting at the computer.
see you later in the week, tho, and during this meeting time I'll be looking
at wITW and sending you thought waves.

Re: ***WITW -- Week Four!***
thank you, rq.
this is a genuine true story: a cat threw up on my keyboard.
However, that was relatively minor and a perfect comment on the rest of the week.
does washing and drying all the keys count as an artist's date? I really learned a lot . . .
Meanwhile, reading chapter 5 was a good experience,
and here's a wonderful story I recommend w/o reservation to everyone: Mr. tolkien's "Leaf by Niggle."
that's all for now.

I reckon you get awarded an EXTRA date for having to spend your time cleaning up catsick, personally!

Re: ***WITW -- Week Four!***
Not much chatter this week, I am behind in my reading. I kinda fell off the waggon, but I am back on and playing catch up. It has been a weird couple of weeks for me, lazy days at work and that means not much energy when I get home (why is that?). The heat affects me too, and I really feel drained any time it is in the high 80's or above. Missed chat picking up son from Scout camp.
Anyway. I have been stareing at my MP book and not wanting to put anything in it and I know why. I don't want to go to a place that I will go to if I start to write, but I must get on with it. I Want to do this, there are only benefits involved, but sometimes I wonder if I should just pack it all up and become a housewife....Like that would ever happen....*snort* I do have many CREATIVE ways of avoiding it though

Re: ***WITW -- Week Four!***
Just wanted to share a couple of things I have been doing:
I got the idea of making little cards with names of treats on them - like a "voucher" for buying books. This will include all kinds of things like a pass to go for a walk no matter how busy I am, or a reminder to ring a friend, etc. as well as buying things or going places. I have buried one of them at the bottom of my home in-tray so I'll have a "surprise" when I get all my filing done. This occurred to me when doing my morning pages last week - I have huge lists of things to do but am usually not that great at rewarding myself for doing them.
I am also having little artists' dates for when I am too busy to go on a real excursion (like most of the time, although I do go out on real dates with my partner). I am doing things like taking an arts magazine to read in a long bath, or going to a secondhand bookstore to browse for just a few minutes and see what I find, etc.
It's working for me, so I just wondered what else people have been up to on the reward/inspiration/change in routine front.

Jez, what a terrific idea!! Very creative, indeed! And Bazile, we've all been where you are -- creative procrastination is something all artists excel at -- when you're ready to dive in, you will; in the meantime, be nice to yourself, will you?

Re: ***WITW -- Week Four!***
I don't know about the rest of you but I can certainly relate to avoiding housework! I also understand about not wanting to go to that place when you write the pages... but when the time is right to go, you will write.
Jez, very creative idea for rewarding yourself. Don't know that it would work for me since I don't have a to-do basket but I might put some in a jar and take one out each time I cross something off my list.... first I have to make the list. One thing on my list will be to do the task on page 93... Strike up a dialog with my innovator and my conserver. That's an interesting idea but I'm avoiding it... afraid of what my innovator might say or what my conserver might say... don't know which... probably the conserver since I've lived with two of them forever... first my mother and now my husband.
Have a great artists date planned this week. A friend recently had a masectomy; her brother is an artist and has some pieces in an exhibit a couple hours north of us on Friday... she shouldn't drive but wants to go so I volunteered to take her... we're making an event of it... taking a leisurely drive up for the opening, then we'll have dinner up there somewhere and drive back. I'm looking forward to that... and then a double whammy... my husband and I are taking in another art show in a town just south of us on Saturday. I know our artists dates don't have to be art related but this is something I don't do often enough so to me it's a real treat.

Re: ***WITW -- Week Four!***
Good morning!
It has been a quiet week on this forum - everyone must be enjoying summertime.
I had my shoulder surgery on Wednesday. The doctor found a bone spur in my shoulder joint and shaved it down. That's what was causing all my problems! I should have a full recovery.
Anyway, I did get one artist date done on Tuesday night - I went shopping to buy some books to read while I am laid up. I found a book on painting landscapes, a satire on my generation and some cute teddy bear stationary for writing thank you notes.
Yesterday I got a surprise artist's date. While channel surfing I found a show that highlighted a woman who makes quilted picture books! What an intriguing idea! Although I haven't stitched and sewed in years the concept has my mind whirling with the possibilities!!!
We also got new furniture the other day and I am impatiently waiting to fill one of the cabinets up with my art supplies - but that means another artist date to find boxes to store the supplies in first!
I did read the chapter this week but didn't feel like it was for me. I got the impression it was more for people who sell their art and I'm not anywhere in that department - at least not yet. Maybe I'll reread it today.
Enough typing for now, since I can only do it one handed. I'll be in the chat tomorrow, but will probably do more reading than typing!

Re: ***WITW -- Week Four!***
Wishing you all a Happy Artists Date this afternoon!
I probably won't be there on account of needing to lie down for the rest of the day,
but I wanted to stop by and write something just to prove that I exist
(as Walker Percy used to say).
Sweet P, that's wonderful news! A doc wanted to do that for me, but I just couldn't fathom how I'd be after an operation.
I'm so happy that yours worked!
Thank you everyone, for your inspiring ideas, especially the little reward notes at the bottom of task piles.
This week I looked through a couple of those baskets of reminders, and it was a wonderful experience.
They gave me ideas for a new book form, one I'm working on.
Might take a while because I have to search the house for a needle and thread.
dum de dum . . . this drawer? nope.
