Re: Mountain goat

Wow. Awesome, Mel. Very nice result.

I don't know how to work with pen and ink. Do you pencil in an underdrawing or just start with the pen? Is this all dots? I'd love to see this as a WIP.

Re: Mountain goat

Thank you, momof6! I always start with a pencil drawing that has been fine-tuned so there's no erasing on the paper. It's actually mostly a lot of lines, some pretty short, so they're almost dots, some are pretty long. The eyes, nose and mouth are pretty much all dots. I just keep building up the lines until I have the value needed. This is cross posted in the pen & ink http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show...6&page=2&pp=15 forum as a WIP if you'd like to take a peek.

Thanks for the kind words!!!

Re: Mountain goat

Great job - nice to see such subtlety in a medium that you would think would be harsher

Thanks, Jack!! And I yours! Next up - a bighorn sheep that chased me across a field in SD. If you look close in the reflection of his eyes, you can see me cowering in the car!!!

Re: Mountain goat

Wow, I love it, never having tried pen and ink I hadn't realise you could get such detail.
Going to have a peek in the Pen and Ink forum to find what I've been missing.
