Trees and Fireworks

Title: Trees and Fireworks
Year Created: 2004
Medium: Watercolor
Surface: Watercolor Paper
Dimension: see comments
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

I went camping this weekend. It was fun! But there was no urban junk out there in the woods for me to paint. So, I had to paint these trees.

Iíve never just painted a bunch of trees before.

Then we saw fireworks. I painted that one in the dark on a boat.

I had a good time but Iím ready to go back to urban stuff now.

(big one is 7" x 10" long one is 10" x 4")

How are the colors working?
I think the composition in both of these is blah. What would you change?

Re: Trees and Fireworks

Like the trees - not wild about the black ink look - would ditch the clump of black berries/leaves - its a heavy distracting clump. Green/lavander plays well.
Fireworks - would be sweeter if they overlapped a bit.
