Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter Back view of a nude - but where are the arms?

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Back view of a nude - but where are the arms?
Year Created: 2004
Medium: Watercolor
Surface: Paper
Dimension: 19 x 14.5cm (7.5 x 5.5in)
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
A 15-minute pose in a group setting. So no control over the pose but I could have moved to another spot. However, I did want to paint the back - I just wish I could have seen a bit more of the arms.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
She looks weird without arms, no?

All c&c welcome. :)

I like this--I get the sense she is leaning forward with her arms outstretched in front of her, so that is why you can't see them. It doesn't bother me at all that they aren't there. Nice work.

She's beautiful...and well suited to your "Sandge" colors.

I don't miss the arms in this pose, she must be leaning with her elbows against the wall ... Never thought of blending the ink lines into the body ?

Good work anyway !

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you explain? Thanks.

sandge, do you need the arms in here? IMHO, I don't think so. This is a good study, good lights/darks and values. This is what you did in a 15 min. study and it's good......to develop it into a painting at a later date, you have all of the information you really need here.

If you absolutely need arms, wrap them around her and show a bit of hand on each side of the side of her shoulders.

Well, I'll try ... Your watercolor technique and palette on nudes is so good as well as the feminine curves and bodyline but my eyes are instantly drawn to these ink lines. If you had painted them in watercolors initially, then blend them into the body it wouldn't have had that effect on ME (very personal you know!) and FWIW ... When I come to think of it ... replace the ink lines by pastels ... ?
