Angry Looking for a non resident art school for MFA

I am looking for a non resident art school to get my MFA my suggestions?

I live on a remote island and can commute once a quarter or semester to have consults etc, but I cannot attend daily. There is only one state university offering MFA in my state and they only allow 5 with painting majors. I will have to go farhter afield. Can you help?

Re: Looking for a non resident art school for MFA

Hi,

I don't know if this is any help or not but you may want to check out this site.

http://www.tesc.edu/

This is a link for Thomas Edison State College located in New Jersey, USA. They are, according to their site an accredited college and they specialize in distance learning. This is taken directly from their website...

"One of New Jersey's 12 senior public institutions of higher education, the College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the accrediting body for colleges and universities in the middle states region. This accreditation is part of a national system of quality assurance which requires colleges and universities to reach a common understanding and agreement as to the standards of quality for American higher education."

I understand that they have both a BFA and a MFA, along with many other areas of study, and they accept transfer credit. I can't tell you a whole lot about them, but I have requested information from them. Actually, everything about them is on their site but I don't get to spend that much time at the computer and wanted some information and could take with me and read on the run. I am not promoting them and I can't vouch for them, I am only just now checking into their program because it is difficult for me to attend traditional college because of the hours I work and need a program that is flexable for me.

I am sure that others on this site have other options that they know of and I would also be interested in finding out what they may be. Also, if anyone is familiar with this program that Thomas Edison offers I would like to hear from you. Please email or PM me.

I hope this information is helpful for you.

Consuelo

MFA programs are available online at the Academy of Art University in several majors. Check out their online programs http://online.academyart.edu/. I am an online student there myself and am really happy with the program.
