Eva Ann WDE 6/26

Well I started this one & just a little bit into it I felt very overwelmed with all the details in this lovely photo! I almost stopped after my orange water in the back became muddied by the blue that had to be in it. I erased it and stuck with it! I'm posting the 2 hr mark along with the finished 4 1/2 hrs.

4" X 6" prismacolor colored pencils on white art spectrum paper.

My 5 yr old daughter did the beach balls. Of course she went to bed and left Mommy still working.

Nicole

WOW ! you did a fantastic job on the Eva Ann.

I like both the 2hr and the final painting. I love the blue & orange - it really sings.

Your daughter did a delightful painting too of those beach balls.

Nina

Hi Nicole,

Very nice work, both of you. Orange and blue are "playing" well together.

Thanks Nina, Anne, Trish & Pat! This one was real challenge for me -I'm glad you all liked it!

My daughter is pretty good isn't she. She can sit and work for so long on a drawing like this! I love seeing all the silly things she put on the balls - did you see the upside down smilee?

Thanks again, Nicole

Excellent cp drawing. So rich and vibrant. Well, I can see the advantage of working small...you can get it more or less finished and to a very high colour intensity. I love this effect. I may try that in another WDE.

I loved your daughter's beachballs and beach toys picture. I wanted to do that one originally. The bright colours. Great!!

Glad you stuck with this one - there is a point in every painting/drawing that is hard to get past. This turned out very well - I liked the combination of oranges and blues - and the reflections are well handled!

And tell your daughter she did a great job on those beach ball!

Woweee! This is a stunner! VERY nice work with the cps, and I like how you figured out what to leave out in the background.
I also realize I left out the front railing on MY Eva Ann. I couldn't figure out what was wrong lol; now I know one of the things!

Oh, I forgot to mention your daughter's work. Having taught 5-year-olds, I can attest that she shows great observation skills and attention to detail. My daughter was like that, too, and now at 17 she sells her work and has all the pet-portrait (and now humans, too) commissions she can fit in to her busy life.

I'm glad you like it June. I started doing these small after seeing Paapu's mini colored pencil drawings. You should take a look (or another look) at hers too. She is going to be hosting a WDE soon!

I'm glad now too but, man, did I have to kick myself to do it!

Thanks! I didn't have that rail in until one of the last things - I finally "saw it!" right before calling it finished, lol!
I used to have an old Time Life book on children's drawing development that showed all the different stages from scribbling to somewhat realism - wish I still had it... She has so much fun drawing!

Thanks VeldaJ, Dyin, and bluepellinore for your nice comments!

Sorry for the long post!
Nicole
