An elder gentleman

Well all three of my daughters arrived home late last night, so all is well with the world now!
After work, I quickly grabbed up my trusty mech pencil, found a suitable reference pic and scratched away. Knowing that this was likely to be the last of the uninterupted draw a thons for a while!!
Much is wrong with this rascal, (the drawing, not the guy!), but its not as hideous as it could have been.

Re: An elder gentleman

Furtig, the one thing I see wrong with this is the center of gravity. He looks like he is about to topple over backwards. Maybe when you mat it, you could just adjust the paper so that he leans a little more forward.

This is a nice sketch. I can see you improving.

OMGosh! He looks great! I admit his coat could be angled more towards the back of him, but I like him. I'd go walking with him & his cute little cane. LOL

ok its settled...put the word out to any one you know that has a problem with depression. all they need to do is draw a picture and post it here and they will get so much possitive affirmations they will think they are the king!

Re: An elder gentleman

I have not idea what an intregal is but a couple of things:

have you established a center of gravity?--looks like you have.

I like the shakiness of the drawing

I especially like the costume and the pork pie hat--looks Irish of sorts

I like the cane

I would establish some sort of pull to the earth--some gravity--ad some shadow on the ground.

I was going to say work on the proportions but you know what--don't do that --it is perfect the way it is--your drawing conveys great depth of character-something that is lacking in a lot of more technically stable drawing--I know I am not there yet both technically and in conveying personality

Re: An elder gentleman

I think his left arm looks a tad long, but I really like the style you used here. It suits him nicely.
