Show and Tell Tuesday June 16th
Let's see those pretties!
I entered a challenge with one of the ebay groups. The idea was to do something you usually don't. I went busy. I love clean and simple designs but I have to say,, ,"getting busy" was fun. Here it is :

These look a lot of fun Suzy. They remind me of candy we have here called "dolly mixtures." Lovely!

Re: Show and Tell Tuesday June 16th
Suzy -- love the colors you used [and "busy" is definitely my style!]
Here's mine for today -- this is my first commissioned work -- a gift for a friend of a co-worker. (the top strand is an ankle bracelet) The larger lampworked beads are by Lisa New Designs. I made the small lampwork beads in the ankle bracelet to coordinate with the set.
It is a bit nerve-wracking sending this out into the world (and charging money for it!)-- but I was pretty pleased with how it turned out, and my co-worker gave it good reviews.

SuzyQ that 'Gettin' Busy' is definately very fun and certainly would make some neat jewelry. Even thought the colors are not me the design sure is.
Retta, a very pretty set. I like the way you used the smaller lampwork in the anklet I think that is a very good design choice. Bravo, and congratulations on your first commission.

Wonderful stuff today everyone!!! Suzy, those beads just scream FUN!! Resa, beautiful set! Sarah, very, very nice!
Today I have one measly little ring. And I do mean little! This was a custom order, and needed to be a size 2 1/2!! It's like working on elf jewelry, I'm sure!

Re: Show and Tell Tuesday June 16th
Wow - this is probably my favorite show & tell since I joined the board.
SuzyQ - those beads are FUN!!!
Resa - Good job on the jewelry, and congratulations on your first comission. I know how it is, sending off your lil' babies into the world and hoping they'll stay together nicely and people will like them. I don't think you have anything to worry about with this set.
Jacinthe - Sweet! I love those beads, and the design is very cool.
Barrie - Awww, it's so preciously cute!
Great job everyone!

Barrie, that is tiny! But beautiful.
Resa nice!! How long do you usually make anklets? It's not something I make but after a few requests I'm thinking about it.
I can seee where that necklace would be a headache Sarah, but it is lovely.

Suzy -- interesting that you raised this question (I'd love to hear from others on this, too, as these are very popular with my co-workers circle of friends, and I plan to make some for them to [hopefully] buy). The woman this particular set was intended for (as a surprise) is a very over-all large woman. In an effort to decide on size, we measured my co-workers ankle at 10", which I perceive as slightly on the smaller size; and my mother's ankle measured about 11", and that seemed normalish size to me. At Dillard's this weekend, I noted that the anklets were 9" and 10". So, anyway, I made this one 11.5", and co-worker thought it would fit great. Of course, I will re-size as necessary. I'd be happy to hear any other advice on anklet sizes.

I've got the scrawniest ankles & wrists of anyone I know. (Heck, I share a wrist size with a friend who is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. I am 5' 4" and, um, definitely more than 100 pounds! *grin*)
My ankle is about 8 1/4" ...so I'm guessing you'll never have to make anything smaller than that, except for a child. So there's your measurement for the tiny end of the spectrum.

Re: Show and Tell Tuesday June 16th
happy beads and pretty jewelry today all! I've been meaning to make myself a summer anklet, speaking of anklets - will have to try tonight to come up with something before we go to texas this weekend!
Here is a bunch of stuff I've been working on - thread hog warning. I love some of it but some of it I think I might unstring and change a little. I *think* in the future I should NOT put the clasp on until the next day - I always look at something and think oh, it would be just a little better if... or I wonder what if I had done this instead... who knows
Anyway, here are the lampwork bead bracelets that are going to be gifts for mom-in-law and sis-in-law - I've been practicing stringer control and scrolls - but they will never know these were practice beads
Also a couple of asymetrical designs... pearls and coral (does anyone know if the coral is at all valuable? I have some from my great grandmother and this stuff my mom found at a yard sale - vintage I will call it - but it looks exactly like Nana's necklaces, right down to the gold clasps) with lampwork by koregon. And pearls and turquoise with a very cool sterling fish pendant with a heart in it (it has a ball inside that jingles).

Re: Show and Tell Tuesday June 16th
ok, more -I think my internet connection is back - hope so anyway.
These are two more necklaces and a pair of earrings using coral, pearls and koregon's lovely lentils....
and... a couple of pink pearl necklaces with pentants - one is mother of pearl and one is a fire opal? I think that is what the sign said.

Re: Show and Tell Tuesday June 16th
O.K. I just measured my ankle, which I have always considered fat. I'm a sturdy kind of girl you know I measured in just shy of 9 inches but would want an anklet to be looser, probably 9 1/4 inches. So ladies, measure your ankle for us! Should we start a new thread, lol.
Pam, gorgeous pieces! I love the simplicity and am actually going to string a few pearl pieces similar to yours. I bought some yummy grey and green one's last winter and just haven't used them yet. You have inspired me!
