Disappointed Buyer--Pink Moss?

Would someone mind looking at this auction, and telling me if the moss looks pink?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3723006494&sspagename= STRK%3AMESO%3AIT&rd=1

The buyer emailed me saying he's disappointed because he bought it for the pink-accented moss, so that it would go with his room. He said he looked at it on 4 monitors. Maybe my monitor is messed up, because it doesn't look pink to me. Thanks!

Lenora

It looks like a light magenta to me...maybe that's what he/she calls pink?

Lenora

It looks pinkish to me, but not pink.
It looks like a combination of pink and beige to me.

Re: Disappointed Buyer--Pink Moss?

Hmm...looks mostly beige and gray to me, with maybe a hint of pink in one little tiny area. Maybe my monitor needs adjusting.

Thanks! Looks like I'm getting a return.

I have an excellent monitor and it really looks pinkish.

Sorry for this problem you are experiencing.

Yeah...me too. I've offered to refund all of what he paid. Since I messed up, maybe I should refund more to make up for his shipping it back.

Edit:
My monitor is really a bucket.

Feel the situation out.
I think that if you are very apologetic to the buyer, that he/she would understand that it is incumbent upon him to pay for the cost of shipping the painting back to you.

I hope you don't get stuck paying the cost of shipping.

Good luck with this.

Thanks, Nina; however, he saw that the painting is on my business card, which is new, and said he thinks it's a copy. I told him that it is not a copy, that it IS original. I told him nicely, though.

Oh well, the only way to avoid conflict is to hide in a hole. I think I'd rather face it head-on.

Yea, it's a greyed-down pink. I guess you'll have to eat this one. It's funny he actually said he got it to match the color of his room. I always wonder what art buyers are thinking when they buy art.

I heard that tons of people are throwing away their monitors (good ones too) because they're getting flat screen ones. If someone gives it to you, they save the recycling fee, which is $15 (at least in some places). You can look for monitors on garbage day or other ways to get one free.

Re: Disappointed Buyer--Pink Moss?

I would not refund his money. Pinkish, greyish tanish...whatever! anybody who thinks they are going to be able to match their decor from a monitors representation of a painting is nuts.

Couple points:

1, I think its a bit rude for a buyer to express dissapoitment in your choice of color (and want a refund) based on his/her expectations. You obviously represented it the best you could.

2, You are not a Glidden employee.

3, Why do people expect return policies on par with department stores when buying from artists who work from shabby studios at home.

4, The reason people buy art on ebay is because it is more affordable than a framed poster at the mall. So there is a little risk. That is why the ebay art is cheap. Can't have cake and eat it too

You have made very good points. The only problem here is that Lenora risks a negative...can she afford it?

I'd still feel him out. Offer a discount maybe. If you do refund make sure you get it back before sending the money or you might get damanged goods.

Why does he think it's a copy because it's on your business card?
