Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
hmmm....well, this already has a naive style to it, which you could keep, and keep the simplicity of this, which well reflects the naivity and simplicity of a 5 year old (well, SOME 5 year olds!)
keep the shadows and shading to a minimum, make her hair a design-like element, with strands, and you'd have something naive and japanese-styled.
....or not!!!
just my whimsy...

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
color me confused...
you've posted this in acrylics but you "are not trying to paint it in acrylics"....
so... what is the story?
I think it's grand so far, and could only get better... no matter what it's done in...
keep going!

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
where the puppet come from?????
However, it looks more like another child, only it looks like a reflection so far.
Otherwise, so far, so good. Please show the next stage when you get to it.

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
Hi Andy,
I think you are doing really well with this, but to me, she seems older than five. I would place her around 12. I'm not sure why, perhaps her features seem too developed for a five year old.
Anyway, it's really interesting seeing this develop and things emerging from the darkness.

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
hi Jo,
yes, youre definitely right, she looks much more mature than a 5 yo ... this is one of the reasons i got so eager to paint her ...... and she also acts and talks very much like a grown-up already, which always amazes me ... it is like being opposite a "small grown up" .....
she is one heir to the famous Gustav Klimt family (the painter).
im working on several paintings at one time so it always takes time with next stages ....
im very glad you like what ive done so far!
*cheers*

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
Hi Andy,
The name 'Klimt' drew me to this wip as I was just looking at Gustavs work online the other day.
My comments for what they're worth the child has a doll like quality to her - I don't know if this is intentional or not because it isn't so noticeable as you've added more layers.
If that is a puppet I agree in that it just looks like a baby. With that in mind I am a little concerned over the arm of said puppet (baby) its right one. It looks too shortened and just a little odd. Please don't think I'm criticising though as I realise that you are changing this and evolving all of the time. I should say that it is getting better and better too.
I like it but probably will like it much more when you get the next layer out of the way.
Hugs back
Christine

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
Hi Andy,
I remember your work well from when I used to have the time to visit Susie Short's group.
This young girl certainly has an ethereal quality, and I just love the way you are painting her. In my eyes the puppet gives the painting a slightly menacing appearance that I don't feel comfortable with. I remember though that you have a fondness for painting clowns, something else that scares me, so it's probably me being freaky!
Glad I popped into this forum and didn't miss your WIP.

Re: Anna Klimt - new WIP
friends,
the puppet is planned to be a bit babylike and the girl a bit puppetlike, at least that is something i want to achieve now, and the puppet should be not a typical puppet- as my clowns are not typical clowns, though not really menacing (thanks for mentionning!), but a bit strange .....
i want people to start thinking when they view my paintings, not just paint "nice" things that everybody likes.
this child is very mature so im exagerating on this now. the puppet looks in a strange way babylike, so im exagerating on this, too.
i love the input im getting for this painting .....
puppets and clowns have always been menacing for me, but i think thats partly fault of some scary movies ive seen .... LOL
*hugs*
