Lagoon Water

16x 20, Acrylic, canvas, brush/knife. One of the local lagoon inlet/outlets that keeps the birdies and whatever else happy.

Re: Lagoon Water

Hi Howard,
Nice painting! I like the motion in the water, and the softness of the distant objects. Good feeling of atmosphere and distance. Thanks for showing. I'm interested in how to do the suds left by the waves.

Ruth

Re: Lagoon Water

Hi Howard,
Very nice movement in the wave and good use of colour to promote atmosphere. The residual foam is well done as is the shadow areas within the wave and the foam. Good work.

Re: Lagoon Water

Ruth, Thanks for commenting. The "suds"---- I'll try. 1) general shape depends on the water's movement i.e. direction and speed. 2) avoid contrived holes. 3)remember atmospheric perspective so they lie down. 4) most have depth so indicate the shadow side. And 5, every damned one of them is different. And 6, all the foregoing has many exceptions. I hope this isn't the most confusing thing I've ever written. lol Good Luck.

Judy and Marty, thanks for taking a look and commenting.

Howard
