Re: WDE 5-2-04 my first part2
ah, there were two after all! I love the simplicity of this, the fissures are a large part of the attraction of these and I like how you zeroed in on that. Do you use ink with this? I noticed this effect on the shrubs in the Sentinel too...nice effect! Thanks for making this your first WDE!

What paper did you use ? It seems to be standing up very well for you and taking the colour nicely. Great solid feeling about this ediface, and you've captured the majesty of it very well ! Way to go !

Very nice! Delicacy, simplicity, and strength. Nice loose technique on the sky.

Good rendition! I like your stylized approach, and ink drawing greatly enhances this

Nice and straight-forward. The simplicity of line really lends power to the rocks.

Easy to get addicted to WDEs, as you're finding out. It's interesting to see what someone else did with this. The photo was really compelling. You've captured nicely the solidity of this rock formation. And, as with your other painting, I really like the way you've combined the pen&ink and watercolor. Nice!

Re: WDE 5-2-04 my first part2
I like the softness of the sky against the texture and size of the rocks. Good idea to use both w/c and pen & ink.

Good perspective...it looks like the rocks are really towering. Good combination: w/c & ink.

You seem to be using the w/c'ers to your advantage....they are a difficlut medium to learn but you are doing very well with them.

Re: WDE 5-2-04 my first part2
Wow thanks for all the salutations
The paper I used was bristol... I know this is not for watercolor but it lent itself well. I do understand NOW that this type of paper is not good for wet on wet technique but responds well to ink washes. Most of my future watercolor work will be on real watercolor paper. I also have done tee shirts with the airbrush as well as pencil drawings, standard pen & inks, etc. I intend to try it all as I go.
