The ink work is up the sides of the two main trees and on up into their branches, a couple of lines on the bark, and on the little trees in the background right. All of which you can probably tell. The very dark parts are in dark gray watercolor.
It must be difficult at times not to see colors - can you see any colour at all?
When I am looking at a subject to work on, the first things I notice are the lines and the 'motion', which is why I thought I'd try pen and ink. I think I am attempting the wrong subjects; I'm going to try something with lines and leave the shading aspects until I get a bit better.
Your answer to chickadee came just at the right time. I'd planned to go to Loomis and Toles today the get some paints and some pens and ink. Got a .25 and .5 as you advised - all I have to do now is start using them
