****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Hi All:: Thought I would start the wash as it is close to midnight, my time.

The sun did shine today and labrador girl dog, Eve, and I checked out all the flower beds to see what was up showing new life. Threw her the odd tennis ball, now and then, to keep her interested. I just love checking every day or two to see what has survived our very cold and lots of snow past winter.

JJ I am sure you are around; so carry on while i get my eight hours snooze time \

Cheers,

Gail

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Hi Gail, wasn't it a nice bright day though? I tried to paint ... not very sucessfully .. oh well , there's always tomorrow. Sweet dreams.

I have all sorts of bulbs popping; but only the crocuses flowered so far .. tulips should be soon. The peonies have shown through the mulch and my shrubs have baby leaves .

Christine - how is it possible to kill a thread? What do you mean? I must have missed something again.

Great day to everyone yet to come - I'll peek back in a more civilized hour ....

nighty night ..

Sue

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Hi Gail JJ mightn't be around but I am.........
I have just taken 4 loaves of Sirnica bread out of the oven (Croatian Easter bread). They smell delicious and since the mixture has got rum and liquer in it, I'm sure they're going to taste delicious too!
Was going to make HotXbuns, but saw this recipe in the paper.
I love making bread.
Now I have 7 egg whites left over so will make meringues and take to the family tomorrow.

Still preparing for our holiday, but getting sidetracked with painting one of Em's angels that she posted here a while ago.

My sister and husband are going to use our house for a few days while we are away, so extra preparations are needed (and a list of instructions, especially for the security system). And a list of instructions also for the appliances - washing machine will only go on delay, remotes need tapping or thumping to react sometimes etc etc...

Hope you are all having a lovely Easter break

Hi Christine, Sue, you snuck in while I was rambling...........

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Good Morning/Evening All

Had a good day here. Did some gardening (with the help of the dogs), met a new neighbor, visited with a friend and painted.

AuntChristine, which thread did you kill? If it was yesterday's wash, I suspect that it is because no one has the answer to your question.

Gail, I did not have to throw balls for our girls (who are more of the "you threw it, you pick it up" type anyhow) as there was a curious bunny who kept hopping by. He would come by, just out of range, set the dogs off and then disappear. Then, when they had quieted down, he would come back...

Sue, I have rhubarb coming up, but with the possibility of snow for the next month, I hope that nothing else shows up for a bit.

Lulu, mmmm, Easter Bread. I might still bake some, but will have to see how the day goes tomorrow.

Going back to watching tv and painting. See you in the morning.

Take care.

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Evenin' all . . .

We had an adventure today that cost me 1/2 day vacation time! Got a call at work about 11am that Don had left a gate open and the dogs got out. Toto, who is usually our runaway, came back, but Peaches (who is an 8lb pekingese and will be one year old next week) didn't. He went out to drive the neighborhood again and didn't find her so I left work at 11:30 to help. I walked a couple of miles up hill and down calling for the little Houdini, then came back and got the car and drove around again. Came back and tried calling all the shelters - - they were closed today. Finally, we decided to make one more trip around, together this time. Got out the driveway, turned the first corner, and there she was. Hot and disoriented, but safe and well . . . her first runaway lasted 3 hours and had us worried to death.

So . . . how was your day? Once Peaches was safely home, we had lunch and went to work on the newspaper! Can't even get a vacation out of a vacation day. LOL Did go to a new Japanese restaurant for dinner - it was fantastic!

ALSO . . . got my Sumi-e supplies from Dick Blick today. Can't wait to give it a try. I'm hoping to use the technique with watercolors as well as ink, but it looks like there's quite a learning curve.

JJ - how ya doin, GF? You've been quiet . . .

Hope Susan's home. Guess that depends on how far Mt Snorgle is from Florida, huh?

XOXOXOXO

It's early, but I'm off to bed.

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

AuntChristine, the answer to your question is sorta posted, I think I saw it in the forum on Internet Sales in the Art Business part of all the forums. You know how when you're reading the Wash if you look up you see a sort of "breadcrumb trail" (that's what Webmasters usually call it) back to Watercolor General Forum back to Watercolor back to WetCanvas? Well, if you click the first (WetCanvas) you will be at a list of ALL forums. Can't get there from the Home Page (or if you can, I can't figure out how!), but scroll down that list, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I was curious, too. All right, I'll admit it -- a bit worried, actually. But it's okay, you have to opt in, apparently, and can "build collections" after you upload works. They're not really reorganizing the site to have all our work lying about in one place.

Hope everyone has a restful (or productively painterly) Holy Saturday (or just a good Saturday for those of other faiths). Having new paper delivered inspired me (or freed me from my hoarding, one or the other!), so I started a small painting this evening.

Tomorrow I'll probably be checking in late; I'm going to watch some little children finding eggs, and then eat them. The eggs, not the children.

Carol, too funny!

Cathie, my girls get out once in a long while and we can find them literally miles away. They start following a scent and, unless there open garbage cans to distract them, all you can see is dust...

Glad you found them both safe and sound.

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Happy Saturday ! (well, not for me just yet, but close enough)

We're off to SD in the am after my Chinese Brush class, and back home again Sunday afternoon...we're going to a cousin's home who hosts the annual egg hunt...will be fun watching all the kiddies find the eggs we hide...

In my drawing class last Tuesday, we had to draw three different 'Renaissance style' angles of our hands (well, only one hand) and also turn in a mid-term drawing. I was all set to turn in the portrait of my son, but the prof suggested I turn in the one of my hand that I'd just done in class It was pretty good if I must say so myself...

Did a little painting today, I'm working on another bench from Park Guell - full sheet this time...had problems with one part, so decided to let it sit and will fix it later...otherwise it's coming out pretty well..will post when complete... I want to enter it into the Artists at Work for this year... (hoping for another free trip back east ) Just to be safe tho, I have another one I need to finish to have a slide done too...

Other than that, not much newsy...probably won't be posting again until Monday, so hope everyone has a blessed Easter...

Sending white light and healing vibes to those in need, and 11 hugs to all...

ML

ps - OMG - I had this cute picture of a bunny with artists palette and brush painting what I *thought* were easter eggs in front of him, until I looked closer... it was a 'nasty' bunny, and those weren't eggs So glad I preview my posts before submitting... I quickly deleted it - that would have been sooooo embarassing...

ok - found one that's cleaner:

Mary Lou, just too too funny. Still nauseated, wish I would hurry up and get over this flu, ick, ick, ick but felt well enough to paint for a while tonight. Tomorrow is another day hopefully.
I had to uninvite my sis in law for Easter dinner, didn't want her to catch this awful bug, besides I don't think that I am up to fixing it anyway, still can't eat.n Blessings to all, Marymc

SATURDAY 5.08 pm

Hello all, I slept most of the afternoon..

My brain is fragmented, and my vitality has gone on holiday for Easter..

JOKE

A 5-year-old boy went to visit his grandmother one day.
While playing with his toys in her bedroom while grandma was dusting, he looked up and said, "Grandma, how come you don't have a boyfriend?"

Grandma replied, "Honey, my TV is my boyfriend. I can sit
in my bedroom and watch it all day long. The TV evangelists keep me company and make me feel so good. The comedies make me laugh. I'm so happy with my TV as my boyfriend."

Grandma turned on the TV, and the reception was terrible.
She started adjusting the knobs, trying to get the picture
in focus.

Frustrated, she started hitting the backside of the TV
hoping to fix the problem. The little boy heard the doorbell
ring, so he hurried to open the door, and there stood
Grandma's minister.

The minister said, "Hello, son, is your grandma home?"

The little boy replied, "Yeah, ! she's in the bedroom
bangin' her boyfriend."

The minister fainted.

Re: ****DAILY WASH **** Sat. April 10th

Morning all!

JJ - here's a good tutorial site: http://www.tips-tricks.com/f_column.asp
there's a specific page on fonts.

Happy Easter everyone, nothing much doing today. Bought some plug plants - petunias and impatiens so have to prick them out into trays for the windowsil. Still not safe to plant them out. I like them planted in tubbs around the house they seem to flower on and on and add a bit of colour to my largely conifer garden.

Still boning up on web page design - thanks Carol and Neeman for your help. I found some excellent tutorial sites including the one above and http://www.davesite.com/webstation/html/ and http://www.charhtml.com/lessonmenu.html#css so I think I'll cope with my loss of brainpower

No news yet - glad of a few jokes here and in the Café Guerbois.

Be back later,

Doug
