Introducing our ColorScan technology!

If you are using the WC! Virtual Gallery Manager to manage your art (and why not? its free!), then you can now take advantage of our revolutionary new ColorScan technology to allow buyers to do color-based searches against your art work. Yes, that's right, Virginia, I said color!

Unlike the thousands of other sites on the net that allow people to view/buy art, we realized that sometimes, buyers need more than just simple keywords to find the right piece of art. So we thought, "hey, why not use color?". After all, color is arguably the most important attribute that goes into the buying decision for a work of art. To our knowledge, our art-agent.com marketplace is the only art marketplace site online that utilizes real-time color matching for searching.

How does it work?

When you add a new piece to your art collections in the gallery manager tool, those new images are queued for analysis by our color analysis engine. Several times a day, the system performs detailed pixel-by-pixel analysis of your images, saving its findings in our data warehouse. We're talking about millions of records of information here.

You will know when your images have been processed/indexed by the ColorScan engine, as you will see the color analysis strip on the detail page for that piece (as seen below in the cropped screenshot):

On the client side, on our art-agent.com portal, buyers can take advantage of this technology by including "color" as part of their search criteria. I'm simplifying this, but basically, they can search based on color, and can even zero in on specific shades.

As an example, a search before on art-agent.com might have been something like: "show me all the landscapes, done in oil paints, on canvas, that are done in the impressionistic style".

Now, using our ColorScan technology, that same search could be done as "show me all the landscapes, done in oil paints, on canvas, that are done in the impressionistic style, that at least 15% of the painting that falls in this range of green."

For example - here is a quick blue color search:

And a bit of the result set:

We plan to expand this soon to include additional color-matching features, such as finding artwork complimentary to a given color (like the color of a wall), etc.

To use the gallery manager, click on the Tools dropdown menu at the top, or click here:

To see the search in action, visit http://www.art-agent.com.

NOTE: Older browsers probably won't fare well with this.

Cheers.
