"The Spray"..... March, 2004
We had a beautiful spring like day here today.
I'm keeping my eye on the Dogwood so I can get a photo for Penny as soon as they start to bloom.
I'm still working on my paintings from last month as well as two Papier Mache' sculptures. One of which I will enter in a competition at the end of this month.
So what's everybody else up to?

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
Hi all! Hi leafy!
March around here brings two wonderful weather patterns! High wind! The kind that causes severe "brown outs" and you can watch the neighboring county blow past! The second is the severe thunderstorms/tornado's! Right now we are under T-Storm/Tornado/Flash Flood warnings!
Linda, I had read your wip on Paper Mache' a while back! It was fantastic! I started a large spider with my niece that you just reminded me I need to finish! Other than that, I'm just busy painting away and taking care of some domestic leaky roof problems!!
Even though I have a battery back up for this computer, I don't like to take chances when I hear thunder like is going on right now! I had better shut it off!
Bye for now!

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
Busy, busy, busy.
(And the weather here right now sucks; cold and rainy. So, lots of incentive to stay inside and work!)
I have a mall show in April, so I'm working on several smaller 'spacescape' type paintings--they sell well at mall shows.
Then, I have a small group show in June or July, so it'll be larger, more abstract pieces for that.
(I'm also hoping to have something for The Artist's Magazine's annual competition, and there are several other comps around the country between now and May 15th! And, I'm writing a grant proposal, too--and working on the music for three television commercials!)

Keith,
Congrats on the work. I did the soundtracks for two Army Corps of Engineers videos but never could do the salesman thing. Did a ton of commercials (in my studio) but ...... anyway.

Looks like you better head for cover!!!
I'd love to see the spider you are doing with your niece.
Keith, you sure have a lot going on.
Good luck in your shows.
I saw the "Artist Magazine" competition in their April issue. That would be fantastic if you won!!!!!

Thanks for the positive thoughts!
I entered two years ago, didn't win. I didn't have anything ready in time last year.
It would be very nice to win...!

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
Thanks Linda, the weather has greatly improved! About that spider, I may have to get with you on how to do the legs! LOL! I will have to send ya a pic of what I have so far!
Keith, my speed reading needs help! I missed the part about you entering the contest! I'm sorry for that! I hope you win this time! I will be watching for your entry!
Henk, this is a thread were you can talk about anything you like! We call it "The Spray" and for now, we start a new one once a month!
I was in the art supply today and I picked up one of those AA magazines (that I don't buy anymore) and I thumbed through it and noticed that Paul Corfield had a Pinup in the gallery section! Way to go Paul! I bought the mag just for that!

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
Speaking of Paul where is he?
Sorry all, I have been buried by life. My computer is covered with sheets to protect it from the household destruction (oops, I guess that's SUPPOSE to be construction ) I have a family member that I have had to take care for and instead of the situation getting better it's going to take another 6 weeks. The lists just go on and on and from one thing to another.
Thanks for the tease Linda. I won't see mine for a few months yet. Mine are still under 3-4 feet of hard packed snow/ice because they are near my mailbox. The grass I can see is green though. I've never been able to figure that one out but as the south goes through winter with icky brown straw for grass our snow melts off to show us deep green grass. It might have to do with all of the nitrogen in the snow and that snow is actually an insulator from the frost. All the same, they get the first cutting of hay in at around the same time the first flowers pop-up. There should be a festival here in the next week or so, the sap is running, the syrup is cooking and the ice gets pulled off of the lakes and ponds for the ice houses. I'm not sure if they still use the ice houses or not but they still do it for the festival.
Well I'm off to start my day. If I'm lucky I can be home by noon to feed my family and do my own chores so I can head back out again. On the rare occasion I have an hour to paint I'm too tired to do it. Oh well.

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
I have been working diligently on my wine tree which is due in two weeks.
Here is a link to my progress so far if you want to take a look
Wine Tree
Sam, I think the coaxil cable wires I used for the branches on my tree would make perfect legs for a spider.
Penny you sound really busy!
You're right about the "icky brown straw for grass".
If it wasn't for weeds we wouldn't have any lawn at all.
Our "Airbrush Art Gallery" is up and running!
Maryl has already posted, and I hope others will soon follow.
I only have one piece, and will add it as soon as I'm finished.
If anyone needs help posting just PM me.

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
Thanks Linda!
I have been so busy that I had forgotten about that spider! LOL!! He has a body that I have already PM'd and I made some wire legs! I will have to post a pic of him! Your going to have to tell me your way of PM, because mine looks like ................... well, I won't say it!
I will take some pic's this morning and post them later!
I managed to get my roof on before any weather hit, so now it's a matter of repairing the water damage inside the house! Oh, well! I need one more thing to keep me busy!

Re: "The Spray"..... March, 2004
Linda,
You mean lawn isn't suppose to have weeds in it? I always laugh when the lawn people call my house. I am surrounded by three farms and have found cows in my yard more than once, like I care what my lawn looks like. Your wine tree is neat. I wish you all the luck in the competition. Yes, life is caotic right now. I don't have a minute to myself. Sam, if you are looking for a few new projects to keep you busy, come here, I have a few extras I would gladly share LOL.

Sam I can't wait to see your spider.
I'm teaching a workshop in Papier Mache' sometime in July.
Maybe the next one I do I can use my airbrush, then I can post it in here
Thanks Penny, I'm just about finished the tree.
It would be neat to win.
