New Member Intro
Hello, all
Just joined WC after lurking for a few weeks and being totally impressed by the positive and professional contributions being made in the Glass Art section. My husband and I make beads, marbles, and whatever else happens when the glass starts to drip off the mandrel.
The "show and tells" in the forum were especially great this week. What an extraordinarily talented group of people!
Hope you don't mind if we "lurk" and ask the occasional stupid question. Also, we'd be happy to answer any questions we can from those really, really new to lampworking. We can at least refer them to someone who knows, and are new enough to remember wondering how the hole in the middle of the bead got there!
Cordially,
Glaciercat

Thank you for the welcome, Don
Unfortunately, I'm down in the banana belt, but love Kodiak. Took a few moments to visit your sites, and your beads are wonderful! I especially like the earthquake bead art. Just great!
Am also interested in the Krajnak reference on your site...hmmm. Don't know how to e-mail privately since I'm so new here. Do you?
And what the heck is a Churkendoose????
Stay warm!

GC: to email or to PM(private message) a member just click on their name at the head of a post. You will get a dropdown menu that has both kinds of reply choices in it. Since we both seem to be still on, try sending me a PM
The Churkendoose is from an Ugly Duckling kind of story that I read many times when I was growing up. The essence of the story is that there is this bird of confused parentage, part chicken, part turkey, part duck and part goose. All the barnyard groups reject him until one day he scares off a fox because of his odd appearance. Then he's a hero. In the story he is philosophical about his rejection, saying "it just depends on how you look at things"

Re: New Member Intro
Thanks, Don. I just thought it had been a bit too long since I listened to "Caribou Clatter" and there were new critters "up north".
Have already how to send you a PM about the Krajnak name. Any other Krajnaks out there are welcome to PM me.
In the meantime, I hope other folks will go to your site and see the "spinning top" jewelry. Very nice!

Welcome, welcome!
When you have a few minutes, check out the glass class and safety threads in the tech forum: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=93
Also, please look at the Effetre color properties project ... we have lots of colors that need volunteers!
I'm looking forward to seeing your work,
Nolly
