Black Hat

This is another pastel pencil portrait of my daughter Sarah from a photo I took about a year ago. I have changed a few things to make it a better composition eg. colour and shape of hat, angle of shoulder. This is on Fabriano Pastel paper.

Beautiful! I like the softness of pastels and the way the work sort of fades out on the hat and back. Really a nice piece.Carole

Mayet - beautiful work!!!
You did a fantastic job with her face.....
The softness of the top of the hat a bit distracting to me, I first see this picture on a not soo good monitor and I tought it's her hair.... lol

Carole, Thanks, I like the way I can play around with these pastel pencils and change things if it's not working out right.
Gerak, I hope you can see it all right now! The scan was equal in colour to the drawing but it always looks darker after it is uploaded for some reason.

Another excellent work. I've heard that pastels work fine for drawing young women. That's the example. Don't make the hat harder, or it will dominate in the composition.
Hope to see something new soon

Sergey, Thanks for your comments. I agree with what you say about the hat.
