3 Summer Masters of Fine Arts
Has anyone heard of a program where you can earn your Masters over 3 summers? I seem to have seen it somewhere, but I can't find the name of the school nor can I recall where I saw this posted... I've been looking online, but can't seem to find the program I saw...
I don't remember exactly, but I think it may have involved 3 years of study overseas or something (the degree is from a U.S. school)
Thanks!

Sure-- I will do that! I just hate when you see something and can't remember where you saw it!

Iris,
You may want to check the new program at Western Carolina University.

Just something to think about...
Iris, keep in mind that not all Master's programs are created equal, nor are all degrees treated as equal by prospective employers.
I hope to complete my BFA in 2006, and then move on to a Master's program. I will be checking with both my fellow students and with members of the faculty to make sure that I choose a good MFA program, a program that provides both the education I need, and which is accepted as a solid program in the art community.

I know several people who have MFA degrees from some of the finest art schools in the country, who are working at malls, frame shops, and restaurants. The MFA degree, even from the finest schools, doesn't always guarantee success, any more than an M.D., or a law degree does, in our present world. I know several Physicians who have medical degrees from Carribean medical schools, who earn just as much as several others who recieved their's from Ivy league schools. It seems to me that a good school can help, no matter what profession a person seeks, yet many times, it is a matter of what a person does, with the education they receive, where ever it is from. Good education provides a foundation, and teaches a person to go further and learn on their own. Statistics show that very few people in our country work in areas related to their college majors. Education is important, especially if a certain level is required, yet in my experience, employers are not as interested in where a candidate, or an applicant went to school, as much as they are in whether or not they can perform the duties related to the job. Many times in the field of education, a higher price tag, doesn't always equate to better education. I have competed with, and been hired over others with much more education than me, because I could perform tasks that college education alone doesn't provide.
Good Luck,
Jim
