Hails from Canada
inspired by "little boy blue"

TJ, after I saw your "little boy blue" it made me think of one of my favorite pictures of my son, climbing a tree. So a few days later, here it is, on suede (this piece seemed a bit different than the first piece, as it didn't take the pencil as nicely, but I still loved using it)

(ooohhh yuck, I just looked at it posted and the arm looks sooooo splotchy, but that is the scan 'cause it doesn't look like that in the original )

Oh, Erin how cute!!!! Look at that face! Little boys and trees.... looks like a good combo to me!!!! Great Job!

Wonder why this one was harder to work on???? Are you finding it any easier now that you have a couple under your belt?? LOL!

Does your son like it?

O dear he is so cute. Isn't it strange how some pictures just don't come out as good on the website, we have all had it happen and know how you feel.

This is wonderful Erin. You are creating some timeless mementos.

I tried on a small suede matboard piece yesterday and it also seemed like it wasn't like the first one.

Thanks Ivyleaf, you have no idea how many times he climbed up and down that tree. It was right next to our campsite and as soon as his father taught him how to climb it (grrrr LOL) he wouldn't stop!

Thanks TeAnne, everyone always comments on his eyes, they are much more beautiful in real life... of course perhaps my opinion is a little biased

Thanks TJ, yes my son loves it, he wants it for his room. It is getting a bit easier as I do more, I am understanding the skin tone colours a bit more, although I still don't think I could tackle it on white paper yet, the coloured grounds seem to make it so much easier. This piece of suede didn't seem quite as soft or something, so the colours weren't blending as well, but I have one more piece before I go back to the store and start digging for more Also, do you know anything about flannel matboard? Is it similar? I saw it on the Dick Blick for a reasonable price.

Thanks MissMouse, I do wish I could get it to scan like the original, but except for the splochyness it's pretty close.

Thanks Shirl! , this is definitely one that I will treasure for a long time.
