Last one for a while...

OK, So I dont have anything better to do with a friday night than work on a print... I have such an exciting life...
This is probably the last print for a while, I need to pack up to go back to work next week

This is the first print I have done with the reduction method, Turned out OK, I think. It is 5 X 7, Printed on Magnani Pescia paper, with waterbased inks.

I experimented a bit with this one, if you look closely (doesn't show up too well in the scan) you can see that the edges of the colors aren't crisp, clean lines, I cut the block with kind of jagged edges (100's of tiny cuts with a small 'v' gouge) to get a smoother edge. I am pretty happy with how the registration worked out as well, considering that it was a first shot at it- I only had 1 that was completly unacceptable.

Any input would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

Andrew

P.S. Will be on board 'my' ship sometime next week, and will check in as time permits, whenever we get to a dock!

Hi Andrew,

Looks like your reduction turned out great. Congrats on how well the registration worked. Have yet to produce a reduction. Am working on one now. I've tried a few experiments but they haven't turned out very well yet. Have a safe cruise.

A shame you're on the boat, eh? But still, it's a nice piece. If you get a chance, can you shoot us a larger one? I really like the concept of reduction cuts and this is a sharp looking piece.

Re: Last one for a while...

Nice first try. Next time get some colored inks and have a go at it.

Have a safe, uneventful time. I've spent some time as crew on a tug towing tar barges to DomRep or Guyana. I know how it is.... you are either on watch or sleeping or fixing things. I always took stuff to do but found I was either too tired or the boat was wallowing too much. But I did come up with a lot of good thumbnails. Keep us posted as you can. We have really enjoyed your company.

I wish you some private time, fair winds and following seas,
"Tugboat" Diane

We will miss seeing your work while you are gone. For the subject of your print I like the grays and black. I do agree with Diane though that you should try some colored inks later on You did well on your registration, and that is something that a lot of printmakers battle all the time.

Be safe on the boat. We want you back here healthy and ready to do more work
