Takami-yama
Hello again! Back from Tokyo, and here are the photos from Takami-yama. The selection was difficult on this one, there were about 15 photos I liked but I don't want to swamp you
1.
2. Almost looks like cotton...
3. A pine tree
4. Yes, I was there
5. Beech trees

Another great set of photo's Florence. My favourite is the beech trees. Love the angle you've got and the comp of that one. I also like #6, very abstract and #8, great comp. The one of you is really good too!

Re: Takami-yama
Thanks Kate! I don't usually like beech trees; there are a lot of them in Kansai. I like simple geometric shapes so I should love them for their long straight bare trunks, but their bark is not very beautiful, and these woods always look very forbidding: no low branches, no undergrowth, in fact no vegetation other than the beeches, and few birds. But with the snow on them they looked very different.

Re: Takami-yama
Those regular, vertical snow-stripes on the beeech trees are extraordinary!

Re: Takami-yama
A fine set of images! My favorites are the pine and the beach trees. They must get some real wind through the beach trees to get the snow piled on them vertically like that!

Re: Takami-yama
Thank you Cathy! Yes, I also wondered about the vertical snow. But the trunk of the beech trees is not smooth at all, the bark kind of peels away, that must help the snow stay on. Anyway, I experienced wind and snow during one of my hikes, and it was cold! I didn't complete that one, just fled and took the ropeway down
