Question Which to buy?

I want to buy a set of coloured pencils and since they can be so very costly I really would like to buy the right brand. I want to buy a set of 120. I saw a set of 120 Prismacolor online at the in2art.com for $81.27? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had a set of prismas sent over from the States recently Earlene (can't buy them here) and I can honestly say that I wouldn't be without them now. I love them!

Earlene,
Have you worked in CP before? Or are you just starting out?

If you've never worked in them before, I'd suggest the set of 48 to start, just to make sure you love working in CP.

If you've done CP work before, and are just looking to upgrade, then definitely go with the 120 set.

As for brands, I swear by prismacolor. Rich, buttery colors.

Buy the 120's. LOL. I bought my 48's, decided I didn't have near enough colors, went back to the artstore and found the 120's on sale for not much more than I paid for the 48's. Prismacolors are great, can't say that often enough . And if it turns out you don't like them, you can either give them to someone you know (pencils, never can have enough pencils!) or sell them again. The 120's I got were on sale for 72.00, and I've seen them from that price up to $125.00 for the same set. The 80.00 range seems a good deal

Cool Thank You

Thanks so much all of you for your wonderful ideas. I really do appreciate your help. I am so new to cp and I didn't want to get one brand and then later regret buying them. You are right Ivy, I could sell them if it didn't work out. Thank you so very much.

Welcome to the CP forum
Like Lulu, I can't get Prismacolours either. I use the Derwent range. I love the watercolour ones. If you go to my Derwent post, you will see a sample of colours I did up.
I prefer the Derwent over the Faber~ Castell. Seeing as how you are in the US, go for the Prismas, I've heard good reports about them, always.

Talking Thank You Everyone

I just wanted to tell you all I did end up getting the prismacolor colored pencils. After sitting there for over half an hour I finally decided to get the box of 96 along with a box of 36 of prismacolor verithins. I hope I did the right thing I have been sharpening pencils for an hour now I feel like a kid with a new toy. I only hope I can do all this wonderful art supplies justice. Thank you everyone. Oh I also found this neat pencil at the art store called a Splendor Blender. There was a man shopping there and when I went to check out he said he has one and uses it all the time.

Okay I guess I have yacked my little head off long enough now. Again I can't thank you all enough for all your sage advice Ivy, Lulu, Arlene and TeAnne. You have all been soooooo great.
