How long would it take you to do a CP of that size?

Thank you so much Karen!! ,

This is going to be soooo.. helpful to me when I get on to do portraits in CP. I have only just started out with CP's and I am currently experimenting with Grisaille in complementary colours and so far it is going OK!!

I have printed this off, I hope that is OK? If not let me know and I won't do it again -I promise! I just wanted to start a folder to keep all my tutorials and articles I have found for future ref, so I do hope you do not mind?

Anyway, THANK YOU!! For taking the time to do this! It is very much appreciated!!

Hugs,

ALI (JAZZ)

I had nearly forgotten about this article.

Hmmm.... this one's getting pretty old now and I do things a little differently now a days. Might be time for a new lesson.

Thanks again!

Re: A Color Pencil Portrait - Start to Finish

I'm so glad to find this subject: I've recently started working with colored pencil and have just about everything to learn. One thing that perplexes me is that the Mi Teintes paper that I have isn't a completely smooth surface, so there is texture I don't want. I had thought I'd look for a smoother paper, but I am enjoying the use of colored paper, and I see you are also using it. What do you suggest?

Re: A Color Pencil Portrait - Start to Finish

Turn it over - Canson Mi Teintes paper has two sides - one has a chicken wire sort of effect (and is regarded by some as the 'right' side for pastel) and the other is smoother.

Just turn the sheet over that you were working on and try doing some shading on the other side - you should find it's a lot smoother.

Katherine

Re: A Color Pencil Portrait - Start to Finish

What fixative do you use? And what is wax bloom? Wow!! Sooooo much I don't know, and Mom's sister used to buy me colored pencils for Christmas, the box set kinds. I used them down to stubs.
