Tom Phillips on being a portrait painter

Discovered this essay while researching the links for the contre jour project.

In case you haven't heard of Tom Phillips, he's a very highly regarded British artist - Royal Academician, has exhibited in galleries all over the world including Britain's National Portrait Gallery and Tate Gallery. He does all kinds of art work, not just portraits, so do have a look round the rest of his website.
