WDE Images For 1/3/04 ARE HERE

Here is the background and images for this Weekends Drawing Event WDE 14 Images
Montezuma Castle National Monument
Camp Verde, Arizona

Sinagua farmers began building this five story, 20-room dwelling early in the 12th century. It stands in a cliff recess about 100 feet above the valley. Early settlers marveled at the structure and thought mistakenly that it was Aztec in origin (so the name Montezuma). The Sinaqua probably thought this was a good place to live. They had running water from a nearby creek and fertile soil to farm. Montezuma Castle is a National Monument 50 miles south of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Fort Verde State Historic Park
Camp Verde, Arizona

Camp Verde (1871-1891) served as a staging base for military operations in the surrounding countryside. Infantry troops built a wagon road west to Fort Whipple near Prescott and east to Fort Apache. With its construction the movement of troops and supplies improved along the Mogollon Rim, (pronounced muggy-own). Later it came to be called the Crook Road after General George Crook.
There are only four existing buildings of the original eleven left.

OK ready to get started? Here is how it works….
(1.) You have ½ hour to choose your image/images.
(2.) Work in your medium of choice for 2 hours.
(3.) Stop at the end of the 2 hours and post your work to your own thread here in The WC Gallery Forum. Don’t forget to put WDE 1/3/04 along with your title (if one) in the Subject Box.
(4.) Please comment on the works of the other WDE artist’s. They will appreciate hearing from you.
(5.) The Café will be open for those who would like to meet and chat.
(6.) There are non-WDE artists work in The WC Gallery who I’m sure would enjoy reading your comments about their work also.
(7.) Please note some of the interior building images were photographed from behind glass. The images are not as clear but I think being artists you will be able to see past the glass.J If you have a question just let me know.
