Question Question for anyone

Hello,

Does anyone know of a varnish that could be used over charcoal which is drawn on top of oils? Almost more like a fixative. I want to be able to do this almost right away. Long before the 6 month time it takes to do a final varnish with demar. Is there and oil based fixative or something that will hold charcoal and not effect the oils?

Thanks
-Car

Wink

I use a spray varnish quite often, although I don't know if it would work in this case, but I don't see why not.
Its called Plastikote and comes in Matt, Satin and Gloss.

Hairspray!
Knew an artist who did colored pencil and set it with hairspray. I think you can also use that for pastel. I don't know about acidity though. LOL just a thought
