Post Warning!!! Claybord

This was my first piece of Claybord Textured. I did not like the first attempt so washed it off. Did not like the second attempt so washed it off. The board did not come as clean as I wanted so I scrubbed it -- with an old toothbrush, no less! The board came pretty clean except for tiny dots of color which did not cover with the third painting.

<IMG SRC="http://www.wetcanvas.com/Critiques/User/ClaybordTree.JPG" border=0> They are especially noticible in the sky area. Maybe you won't be able to see them in the post but I think I will be more careful in the future. Even though the board is very forgiving, it still has some limitations. Oh well, my mother likes everything I do. LOL.

Thumbs up

It still looks nice... I like it and like the colors! Just finished my first one on clayboard too, let me go get it. BTW...was warned not to "scrub" too much when you lift or the coating will eventually disappear. I think that may have been your problem .

I was pretty sure that was the problem because I don't see any of those dots in the rose painting which was the second board that I worked on. That one I only did some lifting with my wc brushes. This one I REALLY did scrub. But it's not a loss, it was only an experiment and now it is a lesson learned. Just thought I'd warn you that scrubbing is a "no no".
