Hails from United States
Family? 3

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Family? 3
Year Created: 2003
Medium: Oil
Surface: Canvas
Dimension: 24 x 36
Allow digital alterations?: No, please :)

MY COMMENTS:
From a series I'm doing from photos & my grandfather's scrap book. All photos are pre 1936, from before he married my Grandmother, so no one in our family knows who the people in the album are, hence the title.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Have at it.

Well, since the forum supplied a broken link, I guess I'll try it again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

rather nice idea, those sepia tones.

However, the face looks a bit like a mask. Have another look at the tone values, and see if you can soften some of the edges, to avoid the cut-out, mask look.

love the old timey feel
really nice tones

on Her right eye iris
the inner curve (by the nose)
may need to move to Our right a tiny bit
she looks like she is looking to her right
and not straight towards us
like Her left eye is
I know that is where the highlight is,
but above and below that part could come out a touch
(imho)
(do you see what I see?)

very nice work!!

This blows my mind - people we don't know who they are and who may now be gone are now seen my millions on the internet. They never could have imagined such a thing. Or how great they look in your rendering.

Yes, what Spyder said. What a fascinating inspiration for a painting. I like the sepia tones a lot, but agree about the values in the face. It's almost there. It just needs to be pushed a little bit farther.
