I've put some photo's from Dorset in the Dark Room, but I thought I'd put a couple here to show where we stayed. It was very much a last minute invite. Someone had to drop out so I got their place, but only had one days' notice. I was told we were staying in a cottage but it looked a bit bigger than a cottage to me

Taken very very early in the morning, so the light was really odd.

At the bottom of the garden, there was a wooden gate which led directly to the coastal path. Very Enid Blyton! You could just imagine the famous five skipping along happily looking for adventure.

We found loads of fossils on the beach and my friends little girl Leah had a wonderful time fishing for more.

The cold didn't seem to bother her at all, nor me cos I was taking photos.

Her poor parents froze though, but were very patient with the pair of us.

Of course they did get to look at the stunning views

And to top it all off, a wonderful sunset.

I can't think how one could go on a weekend like that and not come back refreshed, rejuvinated and a whole lot happier.

Kate-- What a great weekend you must have had. The pictures really tell the story. It looks like it was quite windy. Those cliffs are beautiful. And Leah sure did have some fun looking for fossels. They must wash down from those cliffs.

That is quite a house and, no, I wouldn't call it a cottage either.

Leah is just darling and seems no to notice the cold at all. Children that age are so much fun to watch. Everything is new to them.

It looks like you had a wonderful weekend. How nice that you got to go.

Nice pics....I'll have to pop over to the darkroom and look at the others.

What a gorgeous spot, Kate! I'd have gone there on a moment's notice too!!! The photos tell it all - you had a wonderful time

I love the Enid Blyton reference too. I grew up with the "Adventure Books" series, which, while very politically and culturally incorrect in today's view, I just adored. I never noticed the stuff that would make me cringe now. And I could just see those four going through that gate to one of their innocent picnics on the beach which would somehow land them up chasing pirates in the south seas, or something

Ah Just the weekend get away I needed! Nice shots Kate! I love little Leah -curiosity is a wonderful thing isn't it? I really love the cottage? And wouldn't mind spending a week or so looking at moonrises & sunsets like these one bit! Thanks for sharing -now I must go see what else you saw! I loved the cliff shot!

I just LOVE the cliffs in that picture! I would love to have that hanging on my wall.

And the moon picture...I agree with TeAnne & others...so unusual. But it's so cool.

Thank you for the replies everyone. Leah's gorgeous isn't she, real little sweetheart. She was as good as gold all weekend.
Tazz, you're right, impossible not to come back refreshed and a lot happier. Apparently my friends brother rents a house like that every year for his birthday, I'm hoping he's going to keep me on the guest list

Margie, the wind was blowing a gale! The fossils are everywhere, I believe the place is really well known for it.

Veronica, I used to adore Enid Blyton as a child, and read everything I could lay my hands on. I certainly never noticed any of the 'politically incorrect' stuff at the time. Though as you say, it makes you cringe now. My kids have all read them though (still got my copies, lol) and they didn't notice any of it either. She still seems to be as popular today as she was then.

Found it on the map Kate. The nearest I've been is the Isle of Portland which I found surprisingly dismal. The rest of the coast I've been on at Lulworth and Lyme Regis was most impressive.

Just spent all day round Hexham, Allendale and Alston with a journalist friend but photo wise it was a complete dud never really came light. Forced to spend most of the day in pubs and a restaurant suggesting stories to him, he writes articles for in flight mags.
