Critique welcome

Wayne,
This painting is done but feel free to critique it. Your advice may be useful on future paintings. I have learned alot from WetCanvas because of feedback on my own paintings and others. It's tough teaching myself, so yes, help is welcome!

Cherrouq,
I love acrylics! I started painting with acrylic on canvas a year ago and haven't stopped since.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Cindy

these are images of images so the color is not what you would do but rather an emample of the direction you would go in.

Cindy:
The thing that strikes me about this painting is that the water shows a powerful sunshine
and yet the trees, rocks, sky, back foilage, show a more grey day overcast mood.

By adding some warms and lightening your values in the back you can increase your
distance and give an illusion of sunshine. By adding some warms to the rocks and
trees you can give the illusion of sunshine. Then by darkening the front foilage a little
and some of the side of the rock face, you bring out that beautiful water even more
and to me that is the end all .. it is absolutely perfect water.

This is a nice painting but it could be an extra special painting.
Hope this helps you in your art.

In the closeup of the rock ledge and trees, see how I've added some purples and blues
and yellows to the cliff .. it warms the piece up and makes one feel better as one
always feels better staning in the sunlight after a little stay in the cold.

later,

Thanks for the help Wayne. I will have to look at the painting awhile before I decide to make changes. It's hanging on my wall now and everytime I walk by I look at it to see what it needs. I think you may be right about warming it up a bit.

I'm posting a painting I'm working on now. It's the Sawtooth Mountains, please look at it and feel free to comment.

Thanks, Cindy

I think your painting is abosulutely lovely which exactly why I need to comment on the frame which I feel detracts from it. I want to drift off into your scene and the the reflective frame keeps dragging me back into reality! Darn! I suggest that you consider a frame that is more subdued and also mabe some speration with a liner so the painting can be allowed to stand on its own.
