Post Project Discussion: Street Children Heroes

A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: Street Children Heroes
Project Leader: ursus
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Any Type
Medium: Any Medium
Subject: Figure
Days open for signups: 90
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited

Description:

A hero is not the one who achieves success because of an exceptional ability but rather who triumphs despite titanic hardships.

If that is the case then what a more fitting hero than a street child, an orphan who survives the streets?

Can you picture a 'steampunk' Oliver Twist or maybe as an elf? What about a poor naughty but cute half-ork?

In Pervo’s painting“Troika. Apprentice Workman Carrying Water” the sled, “Troika” is meant to be drawn by three horses but here the three street children become the 'beasts of burden'.

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here!

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

First of all I would like to heartfully thank the project moderator for the assistance. Over the next few days I plan to polish this project a bit adding reference images, links and the like.

Cheers

It was against my better judgement, due to all of the work I have going on now, but I signed up!

If you need something, ask. If you want links of a more serious note, please ask. I am a former volunteer in East Europe and got a couple of links (human and of the web kind). I have prefered however not to make a drama out of this project, but feel free to use the tone you better like: wether is sad, cheerful or even humoristic.

Just keep it sci/fi fantasy.

If you do wish I can send a copy of your creation to a bunch of former street children. Please, do tell if you wish.

Cheers.

More links and info

Street children are only ordinary kids trapped in unfortunate circunstances. It could have been me, you or the child next door. (Even kids doing great at school and having 'good' families had ended up like that when a country economy goes kaputt). Take advantage of this fact to use the images of children in the reference library.

Miyazaki did some steampunk (sort of) at
Castle in the Sky, Laputa (Lapuntu in Spanish ) but that's of course copyrighted.

New links added

Please understand this is about real people, if you want to use their images ask them first.

That one is specially useful if you want to explore beyond the image

The last one is quite outdated, though
