APRIL CHALLENGE- Fur, feathers, scales

Can you believe its already April???

I'm using my own photos plus one from a friend (with permission), some are from my trips to Key West and Maine last fall, and some are from my local FL area. I hope you find at least one that captures your imagination! Have fun! You may use any medium and all or part of the photos, BUT PLEASE DON’T POST YOUR WORK UNTIL APRIL 2Oth, when we can see them all together.

Pat, what a great selection of reference photos for this month. Thank you so much for hosting. Not sure which one to choose. Rufus is adorable. Looks like a real character. Would love to know what the name of the bird is??

Rufus is a rescue from Louisiana. His paperwork was marked Rat Terrier Mix/Feist. We'd never heard of a feist, but googled it. Feists are bred in the South & mountain regions as a hunting dog for squirrels, rabbits, & small prey. They're a mixed breed of terriers and small hounds, plus a dash of whippet. He is really smart, and has a very sweet disposition. He's not particularly focused on people, but he sure loves us!

THE BIRDS: Burrowing Owl, Blue & Gold Macaw, and a Night Heron.

A couple other interesting things: the turtle was injured & taken to a turtle rescue in Hawaii. He was there a long time, and before releasing him, they attached a little monitor to his back. It eventually fell off, but you can see the lump on his shell. He comes regularly to this patch of shallow salt water, years after his release.

The baby moose was found wandering on a road in Maine. Her mother couldn't be located, probably killed by a hunter. she's been adopted at the zoo in Auburn. Her "best friends" and two miniature deer. she was adorable! The white deer was also in Maine.

The iguana was a very handsome huge lizard in Key West. He dominated the walkway, wouldn't let anyone or any other iguanas pass him.

Re: APRIL CHALLENGE- Fur, feathers, scales

Pat - Ah, that explains the Terrier look of his ears and face, and I see the hunting dog strength in his body! Will he grow approx small Labrador size? He looks a real character - full of life and fun!
And I did notice the lump on the Turtle's back. So that's what it was! Thanks for the extra info Pat!

Vivian, he's probably about full grown. He's 20" at the shoulder, about 29 lbs. Fast, fast, fast, and so stinkin' cute!

He’s lovely and looks a lot of fun, and mischievous! He looks a lot like fox terriers here.
