I just applied to Ugallery. Comparing them to saatchiart.com, they have way fewer artists and the works are more traditional. So I thought I would submit my landscape paintings. They also jury paintings, which saatchiart.com doesnot.
They ask for ten paintings done in the last two years. No problem. I doubled the price on each painting, since I have been selling off my site and they take 50%, and I changed the prices on my site to match. They also ask for dibs on selling the painting for I think three months. So if you sell it off your site before then, you will have to ask your client to wait. I only wish that having a bunch of buyers was my problem.
They ask also for an artist’s bio and any relevant education (not much for me).
It’s five dollars to apply. They take a week to respond. I will keep you all posted about what happens.

https://www.facebook.com/haroldrothartistFebruary 21, 2019 at 9:42 am #783172Good luck! From something I read in the past, it sounds like it may depend upon if they need more artists in a particular style.
February 21, 2019 at 10:31 am #783182That could sure be the case. I did comb through their recent oil paintings to see what they seemed to like. I decided to submit landscapes because I can paint them faster (they want one new painting/week) and because they were more popular than any other subject. But that could end up being against me. I should hear from them tomorrow at the latest.

February 26, 2019 at 5:31 pm #783184Their site says they reply within a week. They don’t. If they can’t send an email in a week, how long does it take them to pay?

https://www.facebook.com/haroldrothartistFebruary 26, 2019 at 7:41 pm #783174They have always paid on time. A couple of weeks or so after a piece sells. I have been selling there for a number of years now with no problems. Not sure why they are so slow to reply on artists applying.
February 27, 2019 at 7:42 am #783185Well, I want to enter a couple of pieces I submitted to them in a local show and the deadline is Friday. I’m not waiting anymore.

http://www.blondheimartandstories.comJanuary 26, 2020 at 1:04 am #783175I’m also thinking about submitting to UGallery. I know they want exclusive rights to sell, which is okay with me. Right now I have three pieces on sale in a show through April. Obviously I couldn’t list those with UGallery, but do you think I’m permitted to submit them as part of my application? They are some nice examples of my work.
Also, how does UGallery set prices? Does the artist set the price, or the gallery only?
Thanks in advance!
- Geoff.
My website and blog: https://www.geoffwatsonart.com/January 30, 2020 at 11:10 pm #783180I think you can submit the ones you have in a show for your application. Then when you are accepted you will go through their online process for posting your paintings to be shown on their site. They have specific requirements for what kind of pictures the want for each piece.
You set the price and then they tack on $75 for shipping.
