Smile Modifying originals after prints/cards have been made

Hello

I would appreciate any advice on the following.

I have had some greeting cards made from an original painting of mine. However, I now would like to make a couple of minor modifications to the original painting.

Would this make my stock of cards invalid and therefore I should get new ones printed? I would rather avoid the cost of course! The differences would be minimal.

The same query goes for limited edition prints. If I had made or sold a limited edition print (or card) does that mean I should no longer make changes to the original?

Any views/advice much appreciated,
Thank you

It's your painting. You can do whatever you want.

If the card reproductions are good quality, they can stand on their own and will continue to be as appealing as ever.

Don't overthink this too much! :-)

Sling paint,
Virgil

I agree with Virgil. If the image on the card or print is a good one on its own merits then it doesn't matter what changes you make to the original.

Cards I sell are often just details anyway. As for the reproduction prints the only reason for withdrawing them would be if you were no longer happy with the quality of the work in them, which doesn't seem to be the case. As above, don't overthink these things.

After creating cards one year, I actually destroyed the original Had requests for the same cards for several years. No one cared about the original.
