Scavenger Hunt #532: Feb 24-Mar 4

Welcome to the Scavenger Hunts!

If you've done at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one, we'd really appreciate it! You can sign up by posting your name and the current hosting list stickie on Artwork from Life forum: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Rules for Hunting:

* All items on the list must be sketched from life--not imagination nor photo references
* Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed to by unanimous vote among the participants
* You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count those objects as separate list items, but no single object can count for more than one list item.
* All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you sketch and post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few items as you like; you don't have to finish the entire list to participate! You don't have to comment on every post, but comment, if and when you can.

Scavenger Hunts last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you to do each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are also welcome!

Scavenger Hunt #532: Feb 24-Mar 4

I'm recycling a Hunt from May 2010. Fun to look back and see what you sketched, maybe sketch one or some of the same items? Another challenge.

Ai, I found a sketch you did of Lily when she was 9 weeks old. Precious.

Joan, your sketches don't show on my computer, guess cause they were attached and not uploaded?? Weird.

Some of my items burned in our fire, hadn't thought of that. Fun to see some of the "old" sketchers, too.

See you around. Today is the Empty Bowl, music and baseball. Baseball is out of town, but I will try to listen.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #532: Feb 24-Mar 4

Hi again Helen Yes, posting your Scavenger Hunt related stuff in this thread is exactly right!

Then on March 4, somebody will start a new thread for the next Scavenger Hunt and we'll all switch over to that thread.

---------

Sometimes people will post individual threads for artwork they've created from life - that is NOT part of the Scavenger list. But things are really quiet and so that doesn't happen very often. I try to remember to look at the list so I can see such work and comment, but I admit, I often forget.

But again, for the Scavenger Hunt itself, there is just one long thread for each event, and this is the current thread for the current Scavenger Hunt.

----------

About your lovely sketches - Such a pleasure to see them! I love the shade of blue you've chosen for the last two. What a lovely mug and beautiful votive - I can imagine it glowing through the dark! And your challenging pantry view is well drawn!

Re: Scavenger Hunt #532: Feb 24-Mar 4

Morning. Some of the new folks won't know why I put mug on the list. I had a collection of mugs and cups, maybe a couple of hundred, that were collected from all over. Bastrop suffered a huge fire in 2011 and 1600+ homes were burned including ours. My cup collecting days had already been limited and we decided to not accumulate things after the fire. I started collecting the sketched cups here on the Hunts. It has been fun. And, of course a new collection in real life was started in spite of myself. Always looking for the perfect one! In fact I got one Saturday, I will sketch it and post a bit later.

Pine Cone the light on your cup is super. Love those colors together.

Helen, it is perfect to have you back sketching. I thought I posted, maybe in the other thread that I follow your blog, but rarely comment. Your blue and white mug fits right into my kitchen and collection. Thanks! The candle holder is lovely and blue!

Back later with sketches.

My number 4, a candle holder... thought about doing the votive again but decided on this one instead.

Thank you Jo and I love that you are a mug collector... so am I though I since we moved and purged a lot, I have limited it to whenever I go see a special art exhibit... instead of buying a book that would sit on my shelf I buy a mug that will get used.

Helen, pretty candleholder. I like the subtle shading, too.

I finally got out the big book and sketched quickly with the Prismacolor 01.

Number 1, favorite much - well, my newest one bought on Saturday from the Buffalo Gals, singing duo.
Number 2, garlic clove
Number 3, can of food

Re: Scavenger Hunt #532: Feb 24-Mar 4

I missed the last hunt and off to a slow start this time but umma coming!

Pine Cone - Nice digi mug. I like that kind of dappled shading.

Helen- I am a hunt or two late but welcome back! Nice looking in sketch. Love when you add splash of color for corner and the mug. Like the subtle shading on the candle stick.

Jo - Cool Buffalo mug. Hmm Chileís and garlic sounds like the start of a good dish.

I tried going in order fo challenge but think this is it.

1 looking thru doorway
2 corner
3 mirror
4 mug

All done in Procreate using HB pencil brush. Did each in a layer than resized them to fit on one page. Also tried something new this time and made image size 800x800 so would not have to resize to upload.

Keep sketching
Joe

Like Joe, I missed the last hunt and am late for this one. I did sketch last night and hope to upload it later tonight.

Jo - thanks for hosting! Is that a bison on the mug? oooh clove of garlic!

Pine Cone - that mug sketch is beautiful - I bet the mug is, too

Helen - well done on "through a doorway". How fun to have a blue-black mug When did you move?

Joe - great mirror and corner
