Lightbulb WDE 3rd/4th February:IMAGES HERE

Here are the images for the Weekly Drawing Event for weekend 3rd/4th February.

I’m posting sixteen images and a challenge.

Please wait until all images are uploaded before commenting.

It’s suggested you take 30 minutes to make your choice of image(s) and media.

This is the All Media forum so anything goes!

Spend 2 hours on your response then stop and scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread.

Make the title of your post: ‘WDE 3/4th Feb.’ + YOUR TITLE.

The only other rule…have fun!

The images here are all my own photos. The children are grandchildren. The locations are from England, Scotland and the USA. Feel free to use them for this WDE. I hope their variety will encourage a lot of different approaches and types of image.

The Challenge
I have included a number of images which might lend themselves to the ides of a linear decorative approach, perhaps veering towards the abstract, perhaps not.

Maybe something in the style of Paul Klee or the British cartoonist Roland Emmet or the Art Nouveau illustrator Aubrey Beardsley. Try googling these artists if you are unfamiliar with them.

We can only load 15 images in one post so here's your last image....

Beautiful images! I'll have hard choices if I want to do more than one or try your challenge - it's tempting if I'm up to it since I've always loved Aubrey Beardsley. But of course one sings out to me! Graveyard Guardian... a black cat on a tombstone - Lover Graveyard of all things! It's a sweet cat - and that's where the Art Nouveau style may really work too, lot of good black cat drawings in Art Nouveau...

Re: WDE 3rd/4th February:IMAGES HERE

Great images Harry.

I've only been on WetCanvas for about 5 weeks, but I am beginning to like the beginnings of the months. I see challenges in the Southwest, Animals and Watercolor forums I want to do, as well as a few on this challenge. I will get to as many as I can, but a few will need to wait.

I see the young lady on the boat has her drawing pad out, following in someone's footsteps.

I posted a sunrise sky in the RIL that is almost exactly the same as the one here. Kind of funny how that works out.

Thanks for hosting.

Oh what lovely images! I’ll definitely try the Rowland Emmett challenge.

A choice for my “regular” painting will be difficult. Maybe the swan.

Thanks for hosting!

Thanks Harry. Brilliant images and I love the challenge, it's definitely makng me think! I think I know what I'm going to try.

I grew up near Nottingham and there is one of Rowland Emett's kinetic sculptures there, it's still one of my favourite things. How he came up with those designs I would love to know! I love Aubrey Beardsley's pictures too, such a beautiful flowing style.

Re: WDE 3rd/4th February:IMAGES HERE

Thanks for posting Rowland Emett's name correctly spelt, Triduana! I had meant to check it. I'll put the error down to pressure of the deadline! Must do better next time though.....
As you say his work always shows great ingenuity but his eccentric humour is conveyed with a sharp eye and great draughtsmanship.
I remember seeing the Featherstone-Kite flying machine on display in Leeds way back in the sixties.

It's great to see so many entries this week!

I'm going to do mine tomorrow evening and then see what everyone else has done.
