Post forum faux pas

I have a suggestion

Could we maybe get the forums to read the messages in a descending date status? that way we wouldn't have to scroll all over to read the most recent post, it would be right at the top.

it gets to be a bit time consuming when dealing with more than one page of posts (and as we all know some topics can get pretty lengthy).

just wondering

I offered this up a while back, and it was rejected by the group (for some reason or another, I forget).

Cast your votes now - let me know...

Cheers.

I would prefer that set up. Perhaps the original post could stay at the top and the newest post right under that one and the rest in descending order.

Cool

I like Keri's idea. Some of the forums ARE pretty lengthy.

No problem to drag down scroll bar real quick if necessary, like to see post and remind me of replies to date.

I vote to keep it the way it is.

I agree with Sgtaylor and Rod. If I put the cursor right above the scroll bar button, it will scroll from 0 - 90 in 1.2 seconds, for those days I am in hurry. No need to change format.

There is another forum out there that lists last message first... I find it annoying. Sometimes a posting has 10 or 15 replies before I even see it. Trying to read the thread in sequence is very difficult.

I vote to keep WetCanvas the way it is.

I like the idea of the original post at the top and most recent under. Might slow the degeneration of topics.

Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter

No right answer here. I sort of prefer the branching variety myself. Latest submission first is great for an old thread you have read most of, but it could get real confusing, real fast if you just jumped in. The branching or "outline" variety is my favorite, but it can mulch your download times and encourages conflicts.

How about a viewing preference option?

Yes, a viewing preference would be idel, although it would require a significant amount of effort on this end. We could do it, it would just take forever to do.

For now, it'll have to be one or the other....

Cheers.

I like it the way it is also....a pref would be nice if I was checking into a forum that I was keeping up with, but on most topics, I too reread several posts to jog my memory of what others have added to the conversation.

since threads change topics often in midstream...reading from the beginning to the end is easier for me.

Ditto to what Carly said... so nice of you to save me typing time - you know the old saying... "if it ain't broke don't fix it"..

You know what I really could do without? The topic review. I don't mind waiting for a thread to load, but loading it again when I go to post is a nuisance.

I like it the way it is also. I too use the scroll bar to get to the newest posts of lenghty topics and i get to the bottom in just a second or two. I also like to re-read or at least skim over the previous posts to refresh my memory as to what has been said & think it could get really frustrating to have to scroll 'up'. Cheryl
