Hails from Lord Howe Island
The Final Farewell

Hi all,

This is in Gouache, Pastel, and Fevicol.

This has a Holocaust theme - the child is being separated from his mother - they never meet again.

The silent eloquence of finality featuring the fragility of life and strength of hope.

As I write this, you have 20 'hits'. Eight are mine.

Powerfully moving...May.

This reminds me of Richard & Sabina Wurmbrand and their son. They were each separated, imprisioned, tortured etc., and by the Grace of God - all reunited in the end. Amazing story.

Michael - strength of hope indeed. Eight hearts and two fish, May...

hello Maysun, very touching very emotional... wonderfully done.
I love the choice of colors you used also, it brings out the sadness, and tenderness to me.

Thank you, everyone !

Somerset - eight hits from you strengthens my hope

Heh - I'm very glad it works for you - your comments are always welcome.

Tam - heart you as always - who are the Wurmbrands ? - is their story online ?

Vie - glad to see you - Fevicol is an adhesive paste - I used it to get the textural impasto effects.

Artaton - from C.J.Ingerson's History Continues

Laughing and cackling history
Now walks away into the day;
As people die and ask why,
Not knowing the answer
Has always been the same.
History didn't do a thing.
It was man to man;
seeking another's shame.

"Gone is the reason now,"
history turns one more time to say,
"For this child to ask why,
better the questions
of why not, because
you've learned not of me?

Daaaaahzzzzzzzl - clap on - much love

Stephanie - good to see you - I'm digging into tribal art now thanks to you

Gemini - it always feels so special when your work strikes the right chord with somebody else.

Thank you all again for taking the time.

Maysun

You almost snagged a sob and fished it out of me.
Not to minimize the importance of the actual theme of this piece, but it is especially poignant for a mother of three boys...one of whom leaves for Ft. Benning, Georgia in 7 months for Army basic training and an uncertain (at least for Mom) future.

In that way, too, your painting holds a timeless message for mothers everywhere about holding and letting go.

You've floored me with this one, Maysun. Very powerful.

Thank you.

Very poignant. I think the coloring works well with the sad theme. Well done.
