Scavenger Hunt #504-July15- 23, 2017

Jo was signed up to host but must be engaged otherwise so I have copied a list she posted for hunt #396 - March 2, 2015.....

If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one we would really appreciate it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting schedule in the Art From Life forum here:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Here are the rules for the hunt:

*All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo reference.

*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.

*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count these objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one item.

*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few of the items as you like. You don't have to finish the entire list to participate. The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you for each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome.

***If you have some hunt sketches completed, but little time to read/comment, please post your sketches anyway. Commenting is appreciated but not necessary.***

Here is the list of some everyday items in my world:

OH, MY GOSH!!
I did not put this on my calendar! I looked at my calendar and didn't check the list a couple of days ago. I'm pretty sure the calendar is up to date, now.

Thanks, Robin, for doing this. I did sketch yesterday and it fits this Hunt. Will post after a trip to the grocery store.... whew!

Robin - Thanks for the recycled list!

Jeroen - Great job on the eye! I like seeing just the touch of the glasses.

Jo - Fun sketch from the demo.

Rainy, love the bottle with the blue label.

I have a few sketches from today that fit items here. Have to take photos after dinner.

RainySea, wow, great bottle. You get so much detail in your sketches. I like the shadow with the green in it. Good going!

Joan, your sketches are great. Looks like an interesting place you visited. I like the noise/banging wall. Bet the little kids love it, too!

No sketching today. Maybe tomorrow ... I'm always procrastinating...

Jeroen- great eye……softly concentrating…..feeling the zone

Jo- yeah, you are a busy woman……keeping active…..love the facial expression of the working artist…..loose, happy, engaged….really nice , has a reinnainase feeling, maybe just plain ole timeless joy in creative play?

Rainy Sea- ummmm, like WOW . Your work is amazing. What can I say…..

Joan- lovely, lovely watercolor work, great portrial but still loose and fluid…..GIRLS….that is one classy loo…..Wonderful “public” snapshot…..spot on with the feeling of the crowd and the tentive way children behave sometimes…..wow!

Oh, Robin. I'm not very busy and so I feel twice as bad about forgetting! Enid the artist in the sketch is busy. Sorry I didn't get a photo. She is amazing. Her work is at enidwood.com

Hope to sketch in a while this a.m. That is the only thing on my plate to do today......

Re: Scavenger Hunt #504-July15- 23, 2017

Hi everyone! This is my first post in this forum. You can usually find me over in the Oil Pastels forum, where I know Rainy from. (Hi Rainy!)

I'm a total beginner with oil pastels, and drawing in general, so this is a great help to force me to get stuff down on paper instead of thinking about more complex pieces. I love seeing everyone's work here - this place is very humbling, full of talented folks!

1. Eye - pencil sketch in Canson Mix Media sketchbook. Took about 15 minutes to feel I got the shaping/contours right.

2. Floor lamp. Oil pastels in the same sketchbook. It got a bit messy, but it was fun. This one went fast, about 15-20 minutes.

3. Potted plant from my deck, some kind of annual. Oil pastels in the sketchbook. I spent a bit more time playing with those flowers, adding some texture to the pot, so this was probably about an hour total.

Terri, welcome to the Hunts! This is a great place to practice drawing from life with no pressure. Good job on your eye. The lamp is excellent and I like the flowers. A colorful addition to your deck. I'm smiling.

Wow, I can't believe I've never noticed this community challenge before. Shame on me. This seems like a great way to have a little fun tackling subjects outside my usual comfort zone.

Some really nice stuff posted already!
