July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Hi everyone and welcome to the July 2017 Animal and Wildlife Challenge. I hope lots of you decide to join in this month!

There's no particular theme this month. All the photos are my own and you have permission to use these photos as you wish! Crop, distort, combine, abstract, copy exactly, or whatever else you can think of.

Please don't upload your pictures until the 20th July! It's much more fun when everyone uploads at more or less the same time. Please use this thread to discuss your work and progress until the reveal date.

Grey squirrel at the top of my old garden - such entertainment!

Mandarin on my local duck pond last year

Curiosity

Magpie moth - you might like to change the background

Slow worm (I like picking things up )

Horses at the Highland Show

Meadow pipit nest

Holly and Freya

Hope there is something here for everyone! Have fun - I'm looking forward to seeing what you do

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Thanks so much for hosting Kay. Lovely images. Those horses at the Highland Show are wonderful. Hoping to be in Edinburgh (one of my favourite cities) soon.

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Thanks Chammi, Vivien, Pat.

Chammi - Edinburgh's a wonderful place, there's always something going on! When are you planning on visiting?

Viv - the black labs belong to my boyfriend's dad. Holly (the one on the right) is no longer with us - she'd suffered from a heart condition since she was a pup and she lived to be 13, which is much longer than anyone thought she would. Freya is a really lively thing who still thinks she's a puppy

Pat - glad you like the photos. Can't wait to see which one you choose.

Cool Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

You may have noticed a new thread on our forum for people to post/discuss what they are working on - please feel free to post a "sneak peek" of part of your challenge picture in there! Please don't post any full images but tiny snippets are more than welcome. It's fun to try and guess what people are up to!

The thread is here.

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Thank you, Kay. Really nice photos to choose from. I like moths and sloworms. The dogs are lovely, too.

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Penny - glad you like the photos and hope you can join in! The slow worm was living in an old quarry that was due to be re-opened - I was asked to go and have a look and was told "Don't worry, there won't be anything there." I was moving slow worms for days The moth landed on me while I was out walking and settled on my hand for ages and I just let it stay

Eyepaint - welcome along! Looking forward to seeing your interpretation

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Great, Kay. I don't see as many now as I once did. Moths are so interesting and diverse. I like them as much as butterflies!

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

I love moths as well Penny, especially the big ones (probably because they're easier to identify!)

Has anyone begun yet? Anyone finished? Only 16 days to go!

Re: July Animal and Wildlife Challenge!

Oh no! Doesnt seem long, does it! I've just started drawing one of the ones I hope to do. I'm concentrating on Ludo and Nico's portrait, but hope to do some more of the challenge later. 🐾🐾
